Ms. Maureen LaCroix, Ed.D
Supt. Of Schools
Bedford Public Schools
97 McMahon Road, Bedford, MA 01730
Dear Ms. LaCroix:
I am writing to express my interest in your teaching position as an English teacher for Bedford Public Schools. I believe that I would be an excellent addition to the schools faculty through the anticipated 2010 openings. I am licensed as a teacher for grades 7-12 in Integrated Language Arts. I plan on relocating to the Massachusetts area very soon, and I am interested in securing a position at your school.
I recently graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in English Education along with an English minor. While I was there, I took tutoring positions at various elementarys including Cherry Elementary and Crim Elementary both in the Bowling Green/Toledo area. While tutoring at these local schools, I was able to further develop my teaching philosophy, in which I have found closely resembles the same philosophy of your school. Along with tutoring, I also student taught at Bowling Green Jr. High where I was able to continue with my strong background in incorporating writing, literature, and even communication skills into the classroom in a way that draws students into the concepts while still preparing them for real life experiences, and reinforces correlations across the curriculum. By having this background, it has allowed me to gain the maturity and skills to embark on a career in teaching English education.
Further details about my qualifications are provided in the attached resume. I'd like very much to talk with you concerning a position at Bedford Public Schools, and as you know, a resume cannot represent the full range of my experience, so I welcome an opportunity to discuss how I will be an asset to your school. I will follow up this letter with a phone call to see if I can arrange a time to meet with you. You may also contact me at 937-546-0875.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Lauren Pate
