Events 2007

22 April 2007Heritage Day, with the co-operation of the district council of Lummen.

22 AprilOpening of the exhibition “The Aristocracy at Table - Historic and

-contemporary emblazoned menus”.

24 November 2007For a period of almost two centuries, Hamelsgoet was the country residence of wealthy families. It was in the middle of the 19th century that the senator Eugène Van Willigen had the grounds landscaped in the form we see today. After the Second World War Baron André de Moffarts transformed the former chateau into a very handsome manor house. At the time, the estate provided the prestigious setting for a wide range of festivities. The exhibition TheAristocracy at Table recalls the parties organised among aristocratic circles. Some of the most beautiful menus from the unique collection of Didier de Meester de Betzenbroeck will be shown to the public for the first time. They recall the atmosphere of sumptuous banquets which never fail to fascinate and spark the imagination.

The opening of the exhibition will take place during the National Heritage Day on 22 April at 12h00 in the presence of the governor of the Province of Limburg, Steve Stevaert.

The exhibition will continue through to the end of the Taste Week, on 24 November and will be open every Thursday afternoon from 14h00 to 18h00 and the last Sunday of each month from 14h00 to 17h00.

Entrance is free of charge.
