2Definition
Company procedures refer to all documented policies and procedures of the candidate’s employer at the time of training including, but not limited to, those relating to health, safety, environment, quality, and operations.

Outcome 1
Demonstrate knowledge of air discharges at a hot dip galvanizing facility.
Evidence requirements
1.1Types of air discharge are identified in relation to processes and in accordance with company procedures.
Rangeprocesses – degrease, pickle, flux, galvanise, quench, finish.
1.2Air discharge health hazards and environmental aspects are identified, and controls are described in accordance with regulatory and/or legislative requirements and company procedures.
Outcome 2
Demonstrate knowledge of liquid discharges at a hot dip galvanizing facility.
Evidence requirements
2.1Types of liquid discharge are identified in relation to processes and in accordance with company procedures.
Rangeprocesses – degrease, pickle, flux, galvanise, quench, rinse.
2.2Storm water discharges are described in terms of regulatory compliance.
2.3Health hazards and environmental aspects of liquid discharges are identified, and controls are described, in accordance with regulatory and/or legislative requirements and company procedures.

Demonstrate knowledge of sludge waste at a hot dip galvanizing facility.

3.2Sludge waste health hazards and environmental aspects are identified, and controls are described, in accordance with company procedures.
Outcome 4
Demonstrate knowledge of solid by-products at a hot dip galvanizing facility.
Evidence requirements
4.1Types of solid by-products are identified in relation to the galvanizing process and in accordance with company procedures.
Rangeash, dross, wire.
4.2Environmental aspects of solid by-products are identified and controls are described in accordance with regulatory and/or legislative requirements and company procedures.
