FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2030 Clean Energy Rebate Program First of its Kind in Hawaii

Hawaii's first rebate program for residential solar electric systems is underway. A quarter of a million dollars in residential photovoltaic system rebates is available in Hawaii now through June 30, 2011.

Honolulu, Hawaii, February 20, 2011

The 2030 Clean Energy Rebate Program, an independent effort made possible by Hawaii Energy Connection, LLC, is designed to support the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative’s goal of significantly reducing Hawaii's 90% dependence on imported oil and to generate 70% of Hawaii's energy needs from clean energy alternatives by the year 2030.

The 2030 Clean Energy Rebate Program is funded with a quarter of a million dollars and is available to qualified Hawaii residential homeowners who purchase a KumuKit™ solar electric system during the program period of January 1st to June 30th, 2011, or until funds are depleted. Rebates decrease during the program to encourage Hawaii families to participate in solar clean energy alternative sooner.

To apply for the 2030 Clean Energy Rebate, Hawaii residents can schedule a free, no obligation site inspection with an authorized Kumukit™ representative at or can call 808-524-7336. The 2030 Clean Energy Rebate Program application form will accompany the inspection proposal, and will be pre-filled with the information from the inspection. The rebate is instant, and will be deducted from the purchase price as long as program funds are available.

“The program is designed to encourage Hawaii residents to install PV systems and begin producing clean, alternative energy sooner rather than later. This is consistent with the goal of moving quickly to an independent energy future for Hawaii. The sooner we all move to alternate means of energy, the sooner we will reach our common goals of a cleaner Hawaii and our 90% dependence on imported oil.”

Launched in June, 2008 by Chris DeBone and Steve Godmere on the idea that solar electric solutions don't have to be expensive or complicated, Hawaii Energy Connection's KumuKit™ was Hawaii's first pre-engineered photovoltaic (PV) system, and the very first to use advanced micro-inverter technology to maximize energy production. Hawaii Energy Connection is a locally owned and operated company and takes pride in its investment in Hawaii's future. The company has the philosophy of “solar made simple” and makes the claim: "We are eco-friendly, user-friendly, and just plain friendly."
