Airport: PVD (Providence) is about 25minutes from URI. All major carriers (except AA) come into PVD. For Southwest Airlines it is a major hub. All major rental car agencies serve the airport, but three our immediately outside the door—Avis, Hertz, Budget. (Boston Logan is about 2hr from URI)
Train: Amtrak serves Providence (40 minutes from URI) and Kingston (7 minutes from URI). We can pick you up at Kingston station or there are taxis.
Driving Directions: to URI from the North
From PVD (T F Green) Airport take I-95 south to State 4 (center exit) about 4 miles. State 4 will turn into State 1 and when it does this it will stop looking like a freeway and have side streets and lights. Continue on State 1 to route 138 West (you will pass 138 E to Newport; they are not directly connected; it is 2-3 more miles until you get to West).
Turn West (right) on 138 W and proceed to second light (several miles) to the URI & Upper College Rd. Turn right (there is no left) and go one block through the stone gates and stop at the information booth (right side immediately after the gates for a parking pass & directions). Ask for the URI University Club (95 Upper College Rd.Kingston, RI02881, or call my cell at 401-559-1120.
Directions to URI from the South
Take I-95 to 138 E exit. Proceed about 10 miles to Upper College Rd. Turn left (there is no right) and go one block through the stone gates. Stop at the information booth (right side immediately after the gates for a parking pass & directions).. Directions to Hotel – I-95 South to exit 9 (Route 4 South) Travel about 10 miles on Route 4. Merge onto Route 1. Right turn westward onto RI 138 (Mobil Station). 3-1/2 miles west to King’s Rose.
Directions from Hotel to URI – Take a right onto Rt. 138, go to 2nd light and take a right onto Upper College Road. After the four-way stop continue to the InformationCenter on Upper College Road (on the right). (about 5 min)
