2018 PRAIRIE FARM AREALION’S SCHOLARSHIP

The Prairie Farm Lions Club will be offering scholarships of $500.00 each to graduating seniors. Again this year, one of these scholarships will be offered to the Barron School District, and up to four scholarships will be offered to the Prairie Farm District seniors. At least one member of the Prairie Farm Lions will work with each school district to assist in the selection and presentation of the awards.

The scholarship may be used to assist in financing education and training for full-time students at Colleges and Universities, Technical Schools, and private, or approved educational training programs that offer an Associate Degree.

The awards will be announced at the appropriatetime (close to, or at graduation) following the committee’s selection in early May of 2018. However, the financial award will not be given until January 2019 when the recipient provides the PF Area Lion’s Club secretary with documents demonstrating that they have:

  1. - satisfactorily completed the first semester of their program,
  2. - shown documented enrollment in the second semester,
  3. -provide a current mailing address.

The Barron applicants that live in our membership area will be favored in selection. This membership area includes:

  1. - all families with a Ridgeland, Dallas, or Hillsdale address
  2. – all families with a Barron address that are south of Highway 8 and

west of Highway O.

The deadline for the return of the completed application is May 1, 2018. Many factors will be taken into consideration in the selection process, including:

  • Community Service and volunteered support & assistance to school programs
  • Demonstration of consistent good integrity and citizenship
  • extra-curricular activities, sports, experience in cooperative studies programs
  • quality of application, including spelling, punctuation, clarity of presentation
  • employment experiences
