2018 Call to Artists for Exhibition Proposals

We have several months available in 2018 for an individual or group show. We welcome all media and subject matter (per board approval).

REQUIRED INFORMATION:

Personal Information: Name, contact information (mailing address and phone number) and resume or artist biography.

Proposal: Please include background on your past work and the exhibition you are proposing.

Include proposed medium, number of pieces, and a statement about the work.

List any special instructions (unusual hanging requirements, etc)

Images of your work: Please send us at least 3 or more high resolution images of the work you are proposing to exhibit, with full descriptions of the work, or 3 images of similar past work. Include measurements on the height, width and depth of each piece for work that has already been made.

Work submitted must be professionally presented and in display condition. Frames must be ready for hanging, wired so that the hanger doesn’t show with wire adequate for the weight of the piece. Extremely fragile pieces, pieces with poorly secured elements, paint that is not yet dried, unstable frames or hanging supports, or loose glass will be disqualified automatically. If a piece requires non-traditional hanging methods, pre-approval by the Exhibition Committee is required. The Exhibition Committee will use their discretion to determine if submitted works meet exhibition standards. If you have any concerns about a submission, please contact Spitzer Art Center in advance of submitting your work.

In the case of sculptures, supports that are incorporated into the work will be considered as part of the work when measurement restrictions are in effect.

Please Note: Artists are responsible for insuring their own work during the exhibition period. Spitzer Art Center is not liable in case of loss or damage. Sales made during the exhibition are handled by Spitzer Art Center, which takes a 20% commission on gallery sales.

PUBLICITY: High resolution images must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the show opening. Images may be used for promotional purposes. All images submitted may not be used. Spitzer will provide a poster, and publicize the event on our website, facebook page, and other local media. The artist is welcome to publicize the event as well.

OPENING RECEPTION: Opening receptions takes place on the First Friday of each monthat Spitzer Art Center.

Members attending the opening reception are encouraged to bring family, friends and other guests! The reception is free and open to the public. If you are able, please bring something to contribute to the refreshment table. Also, bring your artist business cards for our new business card display!

PICK UP WORK:As indicated on the contract, arrangements for picking up the art will be approximately the last Saturday of the month
