2017 Madison Invitational Tournament

(Rules for 12U Division)

1. Birthdate deadline for each age group will be May 1st.

2. Pitching Rule: Pitchers will be limited to 3 innings in ONE game. 1 pitch to one batter is considered 1 inning. (No more than 6 innings pitched per day, and no more than 12 for the tournament)

3. A starting pitcher once removed from pitching may return to pitch.

4. The coach may visit his pitcher one time per inning. The second visit of the inning is for removal of that pitcher.

5. All games, expect the championship game, shall be 6 innings or 1 hr 45 minutes. Any inning started before the time limit will be completed.

6. Championship game will consist of 6 innings with NO time limit and a 10 run rule after 4 innings.

7. At the end of regulation innings, if there is still a tie, the international tie-breaker will be used. Example: Each team will have the opportunity to score in their next at bat by, placing the last official ‘out” on 3rd base and starting with 1 out. If this does not end the game, then it will end in a tie. (Pool Play Only)

8. Leading off, stealing and running on dropped 3rd strikeareallowed.

9. Tournament will be played on 70’ bases and 48’ mound.

10. Protective headgear must be worn by all batters and base runners. Violators will be called out. Any player warming up the pitcher MUST wear a catcher’s mask.

11. Any of the nine starting players may withdraw and re-enter ONCE, provided such player occupies the same batting position whenever he is in the line-up. OR a team can bat all their players, with free defensive substitution.

12. A Slide Rule is in effect on ALL BASES (except first) if the runner is played on. This is a judgment call by the umpire, and the intent of this rule is to avoid unnecessary contact.

13. Home Team is responsible for keeping official scorebook.

14. A 5-minute grace period shall be allowed each team to field 9 players before a forfeit is declared.

15. A pinch runner may be used for an injured player. Pinch runner must be your last official ‘out’.

16. Speed Up Rule will not be allowed in this tournament.

17. No metal or spike cleats are allowed.

18. Because of time limits, no in-field warm ups are allowed.

19. A 9-run rule will be in effect for all games after 4 complete innings (3 ½ inn., if the home team is ahead)

20. A 15-run mercy run will be in effect after 3 innings. (2 ½ innings, if the home team is ahead)

21. No player can play on two different teams in this same tournament.

22. No bat restrictions.
