SAINT SIMONS ISLAND, Georgia May 9 – 10,2017

General Information

  • An Individual 36-Hole Stroke PlayTournament. Tournament scores will be posted by GSWGA.
  • The competitor with the lowest overall score will be the Tournament Champion and second lowest overall will be the Runner-up. There will be a Super Senior (70+) low gross prize. Four prizes will be awarded in each flight for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4thwinners.

The Champion, Runner-up and Super Senior Champion shall be lifted from their respective flights and will not qualify for flightprizes.

  • Ties: In the case of a tie for the Championship, there will be a sudden death playoff on the second day starting at Hole#1 at Sea Palms and continuing until Champion and Runner-up are determined. After Champion, Runner-up and Super Senior have been lifted from their flights, ties for 1st,2nd,3rd, and 4th place in all flights shall be determined by matchingscorecards in increments of three (3) holes beginning with Hole #1 from day two. This will continue until the winner isdetermined.
  • In the event that weather or other circumstances force an eighteen (18) hole tournament, ties for Championship shall be broken by matching cards in increments of three (3) beginning with Hole

#1. If a tie still exists, the winner shall be determined by sudden death playoff starting at Hole #1.

  • Awards: The Awards ceremony will be held at Sea Palms intheBallroom. The ceremonywill take place following completion of play and scoringof the second day.

  • King & Prince – #4, #16 (the code to open the lock is 2016).
  • Sea Palms – #5, #14 (restroom key is on the cart).

Watercoolers

  • King & Prince – #3, #7,#11
  • Sea Palms –Water stations located in Front of Golf Shop and at Hole #9 and every three holes on the course.
  • Food and Beverage: Will be available in the clubhouse at King& Prince and Sea Palms. Cash and credit cards are accepted at Sea Palms and King& Prince.
  • Range: Range will open at 7:00 am on both courses each day. Shuttle carts will be provided at Sea Palms. Shuttle carts are not needed at King andPrince.

Shotgun Start: 10a.m. start on Tuesday, May 9th;; and 9 a.m. start on Wednesday, May10th.

The following GSWGA general rules shall apply as set forth by the Rules Committee and shall supersede all other rules played under and in accordance with USGA rules

  • The embedded rule shall be in effect through the green.
  • No cell phone usage allowed during competition or while on the course, other than for GPS. USGA approved range finders and GPS arepermitted.
  • Ball may be improved one club length in own“fairway”.
  • Keep up with the pace of the group ahead and avoid slowplay.
  • Player disqualification: Failure to report to designated tee box at starting time; failure to sign scorecard; Playing a hole out of sequence; signing incorrect scorecard for a score on a hole that is lower than the actual score unless it is due to a failure to include one or more penalty strokes according to USGA Rule6-6d.
  • Accidental Movement of a Ball on a Putting Green: USGA Rule 18-2, 18-3, and 20-1 are modified as follows—When a player's ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies orequipment. The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1. This Local Rule applies only when the player's ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental.
  • Doubt as to Procedure: Play a second ball and announce it; keep score and finish with both balls. Request a ruling before attestingscorecard.
  • Provisional Ball: Play only if it most likely that the first ball is either out of bounds or lost. A provisional ball may not be played if the first ball most likely went in a water or lateralhazard.

Out of Bounds: King and Prince—white stakes and all pavedroadways. Sea Palms—defined by the inside points at ground level of white stakes, boundary fences and any ball that crosses over a roadway, even if it lies on another part of the course (hole #3). In addition, the area to the right of the “Lateral Water Hazard” on hole #18 (homeowner’s yard) is considered “Out of Bounds.” In order for the player to take relief from the water hazard, it must be virtually certain that the ball lies in the hazard. Without such evidence, the player must proceed under Rule 27-1 (lost ball/out of bounds).

  • Water Hazard: Yellow stakes/YellowLines
  • Lateral Hazard: Red stakes/RedLines.
  • DropAreas:
  • King& Prince:None.
  • Sea Palms:Hole #3 marked by a whitecircle. If you hit from the drop area on the other side of the water hazard, count your strokes as follows: one, in the water; two, out; three, to carry; four, hitting from the drop area.
  • Cart Rules: Return carts to cart path 30 yards from green, keep carts on cart path on all par 3holes.
  • Spectators: Spectators are allowed but must stay on cart path and observe all golf etiquetterules.
  • First Priority: Please verify, attest, sign and turn in score cardASAP!

Each Player is responsible for the submission of their score card

The Rules Committee, Tournament Chairman and Club Professional shall settle any questions which arise during play. If necessary, the Executive Committee shall make the final decision.
