Varsity Softball Tournament Rules

  1. Please submit your Official Roster via email by February 19th.
  2. This is a 9 team round robin tournament.
  3. Pool winner criteria: (1) Most Wins, (2) Head to Head results, (3) Fewest runs allowed,(4) Highest run differential, and (5) coin flip. The same criteria will then be used to determine the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each pool.
  4. A coin flip will determine the home team for all games.
  5. For each game, each team will bring one game ball and one back up ball (in good condition).
  6. Absolutely no fence hitting.
  7. All teams should dress at home. Locker rooms will not be available. (At BOHS, the restrooms are located at the football stadium).
  8. No protesting is allowed. Contact the tournament director or Home Plate Umpires to resolve issues regarding rule interpretations. All decisions are final.
  9. The Mercy Rule will be used. If either team is ahead by eight runs or more after five complete innings, the game will be called.
  10. Time Limit – No new inning will start after 1:40 unless the game is tied. The international tie breaker will begin in the 8th inning if game is still tied or if the game is tied after the time limit has expired and the home team has completed their at bat.
  11. International Tie Breaker: After seven full innings, beginning at the top of the eighth inning, the visiting team will put the last player to complete an at bat in the seventh inning at second base.
  12. The home team will provide an official score keeper. When making substitutions, please notify the umpires and the official score keeper.
  13. ALL TEAMS: immediately following each game, please complete game summary sheet and turn it in to the snack bar.
  14. Two officials will be assigned to each game.
  15. Game time is forfeit time.
  16. Teams will not be permitted to conduct a pre-game infield/outfield warm-up. Time permitting, line drills will be allowed in foul territory. Pitchers should also warm-up in foul territory.
  17. Coaches will select their own players for All-tournament teams.

  3. Pool winner criteria: (1) Most Wins, (2) Head to Head results, (3) Fewest runs allowed, (4) Highest run differential, and (5) coin flip. The same criteria will then be used to determine the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each pool.
  4. A coin flip will determine the home team for all games.
