2017-2018 National Junior Honor Society Member School Contract

Membership is an honor but it also carries with it responsibilities.

  1. Members must pay annual dues of $10.00 (this covers the cost of your national dues, certificates, and other items needed by the chapter throughout the year).
  2. Fees MUST be paid by November 15
  3. T-shirts must be paid and ordered by November3 (t-shirts are OPTIONAL) Cost is $15.00
  4. If you would like to pay for both at one time, you can certainly do that.
  5. All money must be turned into Ms. Roberts
  6. Members are expected to attend all meetings unless they have been excused. Meetings will typically be held each month after school for one hour until 3:45.
  7. Members are expected to participate in all NJHS activities. A member may be excused from this requirement only by agreement of the faculty advisor. If a situation occurs that conflicts with an activity, please send an email or letter explaining the situation.

  9. Members must document community service:
  10. Members are expected to have at least 20 hours of community service by the end of the school year.
  11. Complete the attached form and return at the last meeting of the school year. School planned NJHS functions may count toward the total community service hours, but members are expected to seek outside community involvement and projects as well.
  12. Members must maintain an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.5. Failure to maintain this average will result in probation and/or suspension.
  13. We will have grade checks starting with 1st quarter report cards.
  14. Progress report checks- it is your responsibility to bring a copy of your progress report to the following teachers. You have two days after progress reports go home to complete this.

  19. National Junior Honor Society Members should be exemplary students in all that they do. Being a part of this organization is a privilege, not a right. The components of leadership, service, citizenship, and character are carefully considered in the selection process and continued membership. Membership in NJHS will be forfeited automatically if a member does any of the following:
  20. Cheats.
  21. Is Suspended from school
  22. Commits any other offense that the NJHS faculty council considers grievous enough to warrant the forfeiture of membership.
  23. Members may be put on probation. This constitutes a warning and means that a repetition of the offense will result in loss of membership.
