Levine Middle College High School - SMART Goals

●LMCHS will provide a duty free lunch period for every teacher on a daily basis.

●LMCHS will provide duty free instructional planning time for every teacher with the goal of providing an average of at least five hours of planning time per week.

●LMCHS will provide a positive school climate by promoting a safe learning environment free of bullying and harassing behaviors.

●96% of students at LMCHS will earn a C or above on all NC Final Exams during the 2017-2018 school year.

●LMCHS will have a 100% graduation rate for all Grade 12 and Grade 13 graduating students for the 2017-2018 school year.

Levine Middle College High School -Profile

Levine Middle College High School (LMCHS) opened on August 11, 2014 to 103 11th and 12th grade students. Since that time we have continued to grow and we reached our enrollment capacity of 100 students per grade level for the 2016-2017 school year. We have reached our enrollment capacity again for the 2017-2018 school year. School year 2016-2017 was the first year for Grade 13 at LMCHS and we had 45 students participate in Grade 13. This year we have 60 students participating in Grade 13. LMCHS is a Cooperative Innovative High School as part of the North Carolina Career and College Promise where students are provided the opportunity to earn college credit while completing their high school graduation requirements. LMCHS has had a 100% graduation rate each year since opening in 2014. LMCHS is located on the Levine Campus of Central Piedmont Community College.

Our school enrollment includes3.5% Asian, 16.9% Black/African American, 13.1% Hispanic, .8% American Indian, 3.5% Two or More, .8% Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and 61.5% white. LMCHS students come from over 20 different high schools in Mecklenburg County, including public, private, charter and home schools. The LMCHS staff consists of five certified teachers, a certified School Counselor, School Secretary, .5 Career Development Counselor, .5 Testing Coordinator and School Principal. Students are accepted into LMCHS based upon entrance requirements and the CMS Lottery process. To be eligible to attend LMCHS, students must meet required entrance scores on the CPCC Accuplacer Tests, ACT, PSAT and/or SAT. Students with an unweighted GPA below 2.5 are required to provide a Letter of Recommendation from a current staff member at their CMS home school to be eligible.

The purpose of LMCHS is to provide students with the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. High School classes are designed to challenge students intellectually as well as prepare them for the demanding rigor of college classes. All high school classes are taught in ninety minute blocks and at the Honor’s and Advanced Placement levels. LMCHS operates on the Central Piedmont Community College academic calendar but also makes sure that the LMCHS academic calendar meets the CMS and state calendar policies.
