AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THELAURENCE MANNING ACADEMY BOWLING TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A STELLAR SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE 2018SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is delighted to learn that the members of the Laurence Manning Academy bowling team of Clarendon County won the state championship on January 18, 2018, at Gamecock Lanes in Sumter; and

Whereas, the Laurence Manning Swampcats effectively overcame their competition with an impressive score of 534 points, securing their third consecutive championship. Heathwood Hall held a distant second place with a score of 494, trailed by Cardinal Newman at 462, and Thomas Sumter Academy at 381; and

Whereas, Head Coach Jay Atkins and assistant Coaches Ashleigh Atkinsand Les Gravermoen diligently led their team to yet another championship, utilizing their own skill to forge this championship team; and

Whereas, coasting to this win, the Swampcats had a nice sixtyonepin lead heading into the final game of the competition; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are gratefulfor the respect and honor that the Swampcats continue to bring their school and community and look forward to hearing of their continued accomplishments. Now therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Laurence Manning Academy bowling team, coaches, and school officials for a stellar season and honor them for winning the 2018 South CarolinaIndependent School Association State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Headmaster Dr. Spencer A. Jordan, Director of Athletics Ben Herod, and Head Coach Jay Atkins.
