The Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center (MATRC) invites you to submit an abstract on a topic related to innovations in telehealth for poster presentations at the MATRC 2016 Annual Telehealth Summit. Of particular interest are projects that relate toimproving population health outcomes, advancing patient engagement, improvements in healthcare education, and the integration of meaningful data into practice or policy. All submissions must be original research that has notpreviously been presented. This call is open to practitioners, faculty, and students from all disciplines.

ABSTRACT CATEGORIES

Improving Population Health Outcomes through Telehealth:

Increase access to quality care for rural and underserved populations

Improve the management of chronic diseases

Improve patient care outcomes

Advancing Patient Engagement through Telehealth:

Provide patient education or support

Improve patient access, connectivity, and engagement

Integrate telehealth into every-day clinical practice

Innovations in Healthcare Education Related to Telehealth

  • Provide clinician continuing education, training, or mentoring
  • Develop telehealth integrated education programs
  • Advance knowledge, skills, or abilities to use telehealth technologies

Integrating Meaningful Data into Telehealth Practice and/or Policy

  • Project and/or research with direct outcomes contributing to the evidence base for telehealth practice
  • Findings with direct impact and/or implications for telehealth policy

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Abstract

The abstract should be submitted via a Word document or using Rich Text

Format.Each abstract word count (not including names, titles and organization) must be 500 words or less and should include the following:

  • Poster Title
  • Introductory paragraph stating the background or purpose of the proposed poster
  • Body paragraph providing an overview of the activity or study (if a research study, include information about research methodology).
  • Concluding paragraph highlighting the poster’s main teaching points and/or results and conclusions of the project

In addition to the abstract please also provide:

  1. Name, Title,Organizational Affiliation, and City, State (for all authors)

2. Poster Category (select one of the fourbelow)

A.Improving Population Health Outcomes

B.Advancing Patient Engagement

C.Innovations in Healthcare Education

D.Integrating Meaningful Data into Practice and/or Policy

3. Bio sketch

Submit a brief bio sketch (no more than 75 words) for the lead presenter. Include the lead presenter’s full name, email address, and phone number.

Abstracts and biosketches must be submitted to Anita Browning via DropBox link:

2016 MATRC Summit Call for Abstractson/before 5:00 PM EST Friday, January 8, 2016. Late submissions will not be reviewed.

SELECTION PROCESS

Submissions that adhere to the above guidelines will be reviewed and scored by the MATRC Poster Abstract Review Panel. Final selections will be based on: relevance to the abstract categories, the innovative nature of the projector study,and the quality and clarity of the abstract. Abstracts will undergo review and selection via a blind peer review process. Time and space constraints will dictate the number of posters selected for presentation.

The lead presenter will be notified by email regarding acceptance of the submission during the week of February 5, 2016. It is expected that thelead presenter will be present with the poster at the Summit. Poster presentations will take place on Monday, April 11, 2016.

The lead presenter (and any others who plan to present) must register for the Summit. All lead presenters for accepted poster presentations will receive a $50 discount code for the 2016 MATRC Summit registration. Registration fees BEFORE applying the discount code are as follows:

For full time students with student ID*:

  • Day-only registration: $50 (includes breakfast and lunch for one day).
  • Full Summit registration: $125 (includes all program, reception & meals with the exception of Monday dinner)

For faculty and all other non-student presenters**:

  • Regular registration (on/before, March 18, 2016): $375
  • Late registration (on/before April 1, 2016): $425
  • Walk-in registration: $475

*Lead presenters foraccepted poster presentations who are full time students may apply the $50 discount code to the day-only registration, making it complimentary, or the Full Summit student registration, making the total out of pocket cost $75.

**A limited number of scholarships may be available for individuals accepted for a poster presentation who otherwise would not be able to attend due to financial hardship.
