2016 ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE SURVEY

In April/May of 2016, the Organizational Climate Survey was administered to CMHSAS-SJC staff via an anonymous on-line survey managed by Netsmart Benchmarking Initiative. CMHSAS-SJC has participated in this survey for the past several years. Netsmart added a new section on Diversity to the survey in 2016. The Netsmart’s database allows for comparison of our Organizational Climate Survey results with other behavioral health organizations across the nation.

The results were above the national average of 69.9and significantly above the 2015 CMHSAS-SJC average of 66.1 (70.4 in 2014). The results were reviewed at Manager/Supervisor Meetings in July 2016. The categories with the largest increases were “Leadership”, “Physical Environment” and “Satisfaction”. The survey questions with the most significant increases were “I am satisfied with the benefits that are made available (60.0 to 14.5), “Resources are provided to deal with work-related stress” (46.5 to 59.4), and “Leadership keeps us well-informed” (52.2 to 62.5). Only one question had any significant decrease was “We have an adequate number of staff to do our jobs” (61.4 to 54.6). As reported last year, the presence of the FQHC appeared to have had a negative effected CMH & SA staff as significant tension and stress were reported. Although slightly higher, the 2016 results are more comparable to the 2014 results. .
