2016“IN THE KNOW” MANDATORY COMPETENCIES

The 2016“In the Know” Mandatory Competency Program is now available and will remain open until May 31, 2016.

This year,ALLFox Chase Cancer Center employeeswill be completing mandatory competencies again using the program called “In the Know”. A group of experts from across the Center reviewed and revised the mandatory competencies to accurately reflect the policies and practices at FCCC and TUHS.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCESSING “IN THE KNOW” IN LEARNING LINKS

  1. “In the Know” is located on the Learning Links platform. You may access “In the Know” directly OR through Learning Linksby going to MyPortal, main page under Applications, CLINICAL LINKS:

  1. Once you are signed into LearningLinks, please locate the Quality Managementcourses on the list, and then select “In the Know – 2016 Version”.
  1. Select the presentation and post-test for either the: “In the Know 2016 - Clinical Staff Only OR In the Know 2016 Non-Clinical Staff Only”

“In the Know” is available in both Clinical and Non-Clinical versions. The Clinical version is for clinical staff that delivers direct patient care. The Non-clinical version is for all other staff. For example, RNs, physicians, advance practitioners, transport orderlies, therapists, and technicians with patient contact would take the Clinical version. Staff that works in facilities & maintenance, environmental services, security, IS & T, medical records, marketing, finance, and research areas, for example, would take the Non-clinical version. Select the version that is appropriate for you based on your job description, daily responsibilities, and level of patient contact. Employees with questions about which version to take should discuss this with their supervisor/manager, who will make the final decision.

Please note that there are 3 Sections:

  1. CLINCAL
  2. In the Know Presentation (Clinical Version)
  3. In the Know Post-test (Clinical Version)
  1. NON-CLINCAL
  2. In the Know Presentation (Non-clinical Version)
  3. In the Know Post-test (Non-clinical Version)
  4. Certificate of Completion (Only access AFTER you have completed the post-test. If you access prior to completing the post-test your score will be ZERO. Click on the appropriate certificate. It will be emailed to you.)

After you view the “In the Know”presentation, you may either immediately take the post-test or come back and take the post-test at another time. (We recommend you do both at the same time.)

See the two options you will be given upon completion of post-test:

  • Save without submitting. (You can save the responses you already inputted and comeback later to finish the rest.)
  • Submit all and finish. (All answers are final.)

After you have completed the post-test, click on the Certificate link for your “Certificate of Completion”. Your certificate will be emailed to you. A copy of the Certificate should be shared with you immediate supervisor/manager, who will attach it to your annual performance appraisal to be filed in your Human Resources folder.

The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

requires thatthe mandatory competency tutorials for

Blood Borne Pathogens and TB Awareness are taken no more than 365 days from last year’sdate of taking these tutorials.

Please keep this in mind as you schedule time to take the mandatory tutorials and tests.
