2016 Annual Report Form – WDP Cuba
All generations came together to joyfully praise God’s presence. In Cuba and elsewhere we heard Jesus challenging the disciples to see God’s love in the face of those children and to care for them. Let them come, and you will learn how to receive the Kingdom of God! Receive children. Receive me!
The Annual Report intends to capture the lively presence of this worldwide ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action. Each country's response helps us to weave the wisdom and enthusiasm that the annual celebration has generated in each part of the world.
We anticipate your completion of this form, which will provide meaningful information that can reflect the contribution, learning, challenge, and joys of the movement. Your response is also the source of reflection for the Journal. Just as important, it will help keep our database updated to best facilitate communication with you.
If you have any trouble or questions filling out the form, you can contact us at .
Please submit the report by May 1st. Reports received after June 30th 2016 may not be included in the WDP Journal, but they will be a relevant source of information for WDPIC.
Your response is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

JOURNAL
The Journal offers a global picture of the World Day of Prayer through each country’s annual report. The stories tell about the learning from the theme, the creativity of the program, the participation of children and youth, the ecumenical building process, the prayers with women, and the actions that empower women to make a difference in the world.
Your reflections and photos are the source of information for the stories published in the Journal. Try to include information based on the multiple worship celebrations highlighting diversity, dedication and creativity demonstrated throughout the country. Please, be thoughtful, and faithful to how WDP inspires and transforms lives in your country. To access previous Journal visit:
Please email the pictures in jpeg files or similar. Do not send photo in word files, as the photo quality is lessened. Choose about 5 pictures with high resolution in different situations, such as the participation of youth or children, the altar table, symbols, drama/dancing/group exercise, portrait, readers group, etc. We hope to include one photo in the Journal; others can also be posted on the facebook.com/wdpic/ page.
Jesus said to them: “Receive children. Receive me.”
Written by women from theCuba WDP Committee
Please answer each question, adding more pages as necessary. Or you may choose to write a brief reflection using the questions below as an outline. (Limit the text of your reflection to 300 words.)
Theme: The worship service theme was based on the dialogue betweenJesus and the disciples about the Kingdom of God. Jesus received and blessed the children. In your country, how do the communities receive children? What was learned with this year’s theme? Tell us a story that most reflects the impact, enthusiasm, or challenges that this year’s celebration brought to WDP movement.
Prayer: In the Bible story, Jesus set an example of receiving others. What was lifted up in your services regarding the ones who need to be embraced and blessed? How did it feel to be in prayer with the Cuban people?
Action: In the Prayers, The CubanWDP lift up issues that affect their communities, such as the need forintergenerational dialogue, space for children’s participation in the church, the economic and social impact of the blockade, daily violence against women, the elderly and children, the future of young people and the families impacted by emigration. Are these issues also relevant inyour country? Which issues were lifted up in your WDP services and activities? What actions were suggested in response to receive children?
Children’s Program: Share specific comments from the children’s participation in the activity. Add some quotes from the children, if possible.
Ecumenical relationship: Reflect on the challenges and joys of building ecumenical relationships to bring women and communities together.
WDP motto: In what ways does the National/Regional WDP Committee live out the motto ‘informed prayer and prayerful action’? Give some specific stories or examples.
Decoration: The Women ofCuba suggested that the altar be decorated with white flowers and colors thatreflect their national symbols. The intergenerational procession introduces the history and geography of Cuba. What did your worship space look like? How did it impact the worship experience and the learning of the theme?
Additional reflection: Feel free to add any other reflection on the WDP preparation, services and experiences throughout your country.
WDP Worship Service Resources and Activities
The English version of the WDP Worship Service is usually emailed to all National/Regional Committees in September (18 months before the celebration). Since French and Spanish are not the original language of the written material, they will be sent at a later date. Please, let us know when you do not receive the material within the timeline, and update the Liaison contact information every time there is a change. If the writer committee offers a CD with songs and/or photos to accompany the worship service, WDPIC will send one CD to each National/Regional Committee, who will then make it available for the celebrations in the country.
