2016-2017Urban League of Nebraska Scholarship

FOR STUDENTS WANTING TO ATTEND A 2-YEAR OR 4-YEAR IN-STATE OR

OUT-OF-STATE COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY

The Urban League of Nebraska Scholarship is awarded to assist graduating high school seniors in pursuit of post-secondary education and can be used to attend any 2-year or 4-year college/university.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a current resident of Nebraska.
  2. Have a current cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher.
  3. Have completed at least 10 hours of documented community involvement.
  4. Have taken the A.C.T. or S.A.T.

Students must submit the following materials bound in a clear plastic report cover (stapled packets will not be accepted):

  1. Typed application.
  2. Cover page with color picture attached.
  3. Official copy of high school transcripts or G.E.D. (General Education Diploma).
  4. Two (2) letters of recommendations from persons attesting to your qualifications and motivation for attending college. Family members and relatives cannot submit letters of recommendation on the student’s behalf.
  5. Typed essay stating your goals, ambitions and the reasonsyou should receive a scholarship. (Essays must be no less than 250 words and no more than 500 words in length.)
  6. Resume
  7. Additional information may be requested by the selection committee.

The completed scholarship application packet (including all requested materials) must be received by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 and submitted to:

The Urban League of Nebraska will award two different types of scholarships:
  1. ULN Scholarships can be used to attend any in-state or out-of-state college or university.
  1. ULN-MCC Scholarships can only be used to attend Metropolitan Community College.
If you only plan to attend Metropolitan Community College, you only need to submit the ULN-MCC Scholarship application. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notified which type you will receive, along with special instructions to follow before funds can be disbursed.
