2015 Acceptable Use Agreement for a Private Device
At MacGregor State High School we recognise that the use of technology can provide students with valuable learning experiences. For this reason we have extended our 1:1 laptop program policy to include a private usage option. This agreement must be signed by students and parents/guardians and returned to the school administration office in order to use your own personal non phone devicewhile at school.

I understand that I take full responsibility for the care and usage of my device while it is on the school grounds. Any damage that may occur is my responsibility. I will follow all expectations as stated inMacGregor State High School’s Network Usage and Access Guidelines. I hereby agree that while using my personaldevice with or without Internet access
I WILL
- Use my device and internet access solely for educational purposes;
- NOT play any games on my device while in class;
- Ensure my device is on ‘silent’ mode when in class;
- Maintain the privacy of my logon, password and private information;
- Retrieve/browse only information which is relevant, appropriate and acceptable to the school community;
- Use my device in such a way as to uphold the values and expectations of MacGregor State High School;
- Not allow any other student to use my device or personal internet connection;
- Access e-mail, chat channels and other personal communications protocols only as directed by my teachers;
- Back-up all school work, equipment failure is no excuse for not handing in assessment;
- Not attempt to connect my device to the school network and its resources in any way;
- Maintain the privacy of my home address, telephone number or any credit card or pin number and NOT disclose any of these details over the internet;
- Observe all copyright laws, including those relating to computer software, music and videos;
- Respect the rights and privacy of other users;
- If I accidentally come across something that is illegal, dangerous or offensive, I will clear my screen, and immediately, quietly, inform my teacher/parent.
NOTE
- The use of ‘computer failure’ and lack of ‘Print Credit’ are not an excuse for late or non-submission of assignments.
- The school will not provide any technical support for a private device;
- I will not be able to access the school network in any way.
- I cannot install any school owned software on my personal device;
- I cannot film/photograph any persons or event unless express permission is granted by either a Teacher, Deputy Principal or Principal
- If directed to, I will provide full access to my device to the Principal or Deputy Principal in the event of any investigation of failure to follow this agreement, or any other school directive;
I understand that if the school decides I have broken this agreement, I may be prevented from bringing / using my personal device for a period of time and if applicable, denied permission to bring/use my device while at school.

I understand that the use of a device can provide students with valuable learning experiences. I also understand that, it is possible that it may give access to information that is illegal, dangerous or offensive.
I accept that at school, while teachers will always exercise their duty of care, appropriate use is the student’s responsibility. I also accept that when at school, the school takes no responsibility for any damage to the personal device that may occur. The responsibility for the use and careof the personal device resides with myself and the student.
I give permission for ______to use their own personal device. I understand that students who break the school’s computer usage policy may be prevented from using the device.
