Love T. Nolan students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families agree that this compact outlines how parents, school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. It describes how the school and parents will work collaboratively to build a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.

To understand how working together can benefit our students, it is first important to understand our district’s and school’s goals for student success.

Please return this form to your child’s teacher and keep the compact for your record. The compact will be discussed throughout the school year at various parental involvement events.

WHAT IS A SCHOOL/PARENT/STUDENT COMPACT?

The school/parent/student compact is a written agreement between teachers, parents and students. It is a document that clarifies what families and schools can do to help students reach high academic standards. Every school receiving Title I funds must develop a compact. The compact serves as a clear reminder of everyone’s responsibility to take action at home and at school so that students may have a greater advantage of learning.

DEVELOPERS:

The parents, students and staff at Love T. Nolan jointly developed this compact as a written agreement to connect and bridge the home and school community. Also, the compact is outlined to meet the needs and goals of our school, students and district.

All parents can provide feedback on the compact each school year, at the two meetings that are held and any time during the school year. Please call 470-254-7950 or visit www.fultonschools.org and choose Nolan Elementary then click on the school’s web page.

FULTON COUNTY SCHOOL’S STRATEGIC GOALS:

·  90% of Fulton students will graduate on time.

·  85% of Fulton’s seniors will be eligible for admission to a University System of Georgia College or University

·  100% of Fulton's graduates will be work-ready certified.

LOVE T. NOLAN’S GOAL:

·  Goal #1: By May 2016, the percentage of students in grades K-5, performing at the At/Above level will increase in Reading from _32% (191/611) _ to _42% (256/611), as measured by the EOY STAR Assessment, administered in May.

(RECLAIM 65 MORE STUDENTS!!!) * +10%

·  Goal #2: By May 2016, the percentage of students in grade 1-5, performing at the At/Above level will increase in Mathematics from _51% (270/548) _ to _61% (334/548), as measured by the EOY STAR Assessment, administered in May. (RECLAIM 64 MORE STUDENTS!!!) *+10%

·  Goal #3: By May 2016, the percentage of students in grades K-5, performing at the CORE level will increase in Oral Reading Fluency from _49% (321/651) _ to _59% (384/651), as measured by the EOY DIBELS Assessment, administered in May.

LOVE T. NOLAN will:

·  Provide high quality mathematics, reading and oral reading fluency instruction to students in K-5 that is rigorous, challenging and based on the STAR, Dibels, and Georgia Milestones Assessments.

·  Provide homework assignments that parents can participate in at home with their student and to reinforce classroom instruction addressing, STAR Math and literacy goals.

·  Increase the use of technology in the instructional setting and academic areas of math and literacy skills.

Parent-Teacher Conference: Schedule conferences at least twice annually to discuss the compact and how it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Discuss parents and teachers responsibilities as outlined in the compact.

Parents Progress reports: Provide progress reports to parents regarding their student’s STAR Math, Reading and Oral Fluency assessment scores, according to the nine and eighteen week reporting periods for Fulton County Schools.

Access to Staff: Parents can email or call teachers to schedule face to face and phone conferences, get classroom academic and behavior progress reports on their student and classroom visits.

Parent Opportunities: Provide reasonable access to parents for opportunities to volunteer and to participate in their child’s learning experiences through classroom mentoring, school activities, parent math and literacy workshops. Open house, parent volunteering, parent teacher conference, Hands On Nolan Day, PTA Meetings and other school wide activities.

AS PARENTS WE want…

Our child to succeed, therefore, we will encourage him/her by doing the following:

·  See that my child is equipped with the necessary at home learning tools to become literate and mathematically intelligent, using math and reading related technology and strategies given by the teacher to increase math, reading and oral reading fluency.

·  Support the school in its efforts to teach my child so that he/she can achieve in math and reading by completing homework assignments and asking for assistance as needed.

·  Encourage his/her efforts by communicating with the teacher, attending conferences, parent academic workshops and being available for questions and other support.

·  Utilize the math and literacy resources provided on-line, Fulton County E-book database and at http://school.fultonschools.org/es/lovenolan, the school’s website.

AS A STUDENT I will:

Work to the best of my ability, therefore, I shall strive to do the following:

·  Seek guidance and support when I am struggling with math and reading assignments and submit completed homework on time.

·  Attend Extended Day or individual classroom tutorial provided that will help me with passing school assessments such as the ITBS, STAR, GA Milestones and classroom assessments.

·  Use the resources provided on the Love T. Nolan website http://school.fultonschools.org/es/lovenolan and Fulton E-book database that will increase my understanding of math and reading in order to achieve.
