Teacher Information
I have been teaching private piano lessons since high school and am currently a senior at WSU majoring in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. I am actively involved in many different musical activities in and out of schoolincluding classical solo piano, accompanying and chamber music, choir and jazz ensembles, and church music ministry. I enjoy giving students a love for all types of music and encourage them to use it as a creative form of expression at the piano and away from it. My approach to teaching combines aspects of foundational reading and technique skills, theory, ear training, musicianship, composition, improvisation, and music history, all with an emphasis on discovering and expressing musicality, emotions, and the unique personalities of each student.
Teacher/Student Responsibilities:
As your teacher, my goal is to share my musical knowledge and skills in order to create a long lasting appreciation of and love for music. I am committed to a high standard of musicianship and quality teaching, tailored to fit the individual needs and interests of each student. I expect the same level of commitment from my students. I am further committed to continuing my own education as a musician in order to better help my students learn.
Students are expected to commit to the following responsibilities:
- Arrive on time to lessons.
- Participate fully during lesson time, listening attentively and asking questions whenever you have any.
- Diligently follow the practice schedule that is agreed upon.
- Always do your very best both during lessons and while practicing throughout the week.

If they have any method books/music you have been working on, please bring them as well.If you are a returning student, please have your child come to their first lesson with two review pieces prepared to play for me.
Music Books/Materials
After the first lesson, I will assess your child’s playing ability and select the best method books for them to use (if students have books they are currently using, I will try to utilize those books.)You are responsible for providing music, and I will give you the information to purchase books. Until books are ordered I will provide copies of music for weekly assignments.
