AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR RITA LITTLES SCOTT, VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF WCSCTV5 IN CHARLESTON, FOR HER MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Rita Littles Scott has recently begun a welldeserved retirement after years as a premier professional in broadcast sales, the last of which have been as the distinguished and highlyregarded vice president and general manager at WCSCTV5 in Charleston; and
Whereas, born in High Point, North Carolina,Ms. Scott began her broadcast sales career with WGHP Television in Greensboro/High Point, North Carolina. She continued in broadcast sales, taking positions with stations WJW in Cleveland, Ohio; Cap Cities/ABC National Sales in Chicago, Illinois; and WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina; and
Whereas, Ms. Scott relocated to Charleston as the national sales manager at WCSCTV in 1994, and was promoted to general sales manager in 1998. One year later, she was appointed the station’s vice president and general manager; and
Whereas, devoted to her community, Ms. Scott serves on numerous boards in the Charleston area and was honored by former Mayor Joseph Riley and the City of Charleston as the first AfricanAmerican woman to become general manager of an affiliate television station; and
Whereas, Live 5 WCSC is Charleston’s CBS affiliate,holdingthe numberone spot in ratings and revenue and boasting a robust digital platform that reaches over forty million page views per month; and
Whereas, in September 2011, the station launched “Bounce Charleston,” the first overtheair network to target the AfricanAmerican community; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives commends the remarkable and groundbreaking career of Rita Littles Scott in broadcast sales, and the members deeply appreciate her for the role model she has been for young AfricanAmerican women to emulate. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Rita Littles Scott, Vice President and General Manager of WCSCTV5 in Charleston, for her many years of outstanding service, and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented toRita Littles Scott.
