ACONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE MONARCH CAFÉ & FRESH FOOD STORE IN SPARTANBURG ON ITS GRAND OPENING, HELD IN NOVEMBER 2014, AND TO DECLARE NOVEMBER 6, 2014, AS HEALTHY EATING DAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to learn that Spartanburg’s Monarch Café & Fresh Food Store held its grand opening in November 2014; and
Whereas, a subsidiary of the Butterfly Foundation, a 501(c)(3) communitydevelopment organization founded in 2007, Monarch Café & Fresh Food Store is located at the new Northside Harvest Park and provides community members with moderately priced breakfast and lunch and “litebites” throughout the week; and
Whereas, in addition, cooking classes and demonstrations featuring fresh produce from Hub City Farmers’ Market and Urban Garden are available, and the Fresh Food Store sells fresh produce from local and regional farmers, dairy, and meats, among other offerings; and
Whereas, Monarch Café & Fresh Food Store celebrated its grand opening on National Healthy Eating Day, November 6, 2014, with more celebratory events held on November 8. Tours and cooking demonstrations from Daniel Thomas, the former head banquet and catering chef for the United States Senate, highlighted the event; and
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly, grateful for the spirit of excellence undergirding the enterprise, takes great pleasure in congratulating Monarch Café & Fresh Food Store on its grand opening and in extending best wishes for much future success. The General Assembly is further pleased to encourage the citizens of this great State to eat healthily by declaring November 6, 2014, as Healthy Eating Day in South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Monarch Café & Fresh Food Store in Spartanburg on its grand opening, held in November 2014, and declare November 6, 2014, as Healthy Eating Day in South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Monarch Café & Fresh Food Store.
