2015-16 NAHS APPLICATION PROCESS

Dear Students,

The Visual Arts Faculty is now accepting applications for membership into the National Art Honor Society. The National Art Honor Society is a national honorary and service organization for high school students in grades 10-12 who are involved in the visual arts. EHS represents the 1597 Chapter of NAHS, which is made up of nearly 2,000 chapters nationwide. The purpose of NAHS is to inspire and recognized those students who have shown an outstanding ability in the visual arts. NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in the visual arts and to bring art to the attention of the school and community.

Attached are the forms to apply for NAHS. There are two pages to the application.

Please type your information on the application and complete the entire document.

Completed application forms and teacher recommendation forms should be emailed to Mr. Trauba at by 3:30pm on Friday, Sept. 4th.

All students who feel they meet the criteria for membership are encouraged to apply. After evaluating the applications, the Visual Arts faculty will announce the new members of the NAHS.

Please follow the instructions carefully.

No applications will be accepted after Sept. 4th.

No applications will be accepted that have not been typed out andwith the completed twopart essay.

2teacher recommendations must be received to complete the application process.

Recommendations should include one EHS Visual Arts teacher and one EHS Academic teacher.

Requirements for Membership

To be eligible for membership in the Episcopal High School Chapter of the National Art Honor Society, a student must have completed three semesters of Visual Arts classes.

The following are Visual Arts courses:

Art Fundamentals (Intro to Studio Arts), Beg./Adv. Drawing and Painting, Beg./Adv. Design, Beg./Adv. Ceramics, Beg./Adv. Sculpture, Mixed Media, Portfolio Development, Media Studies, Social Culture and Media, Movie Making 1 and 2, Visual Effects Compositing, Adv. Movie Making (Etv), Beg./Adv. Photo, Alternate Processes in Photo, Photo Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Newspaper and Yearbook.

Students must maintain at least an A- in all Visual Arts classes.

Students should demonstrate an interest in the arts outside of the EHS Community.

Students should be enrolled in at least one semester of a Visual Arts course while in NAHS

Applicants should also demonstrate qualities of character, leadership, and service.

To Remain a Member of NAHS

  • Maintain a grade of A- or higher in all Visual Arts classes
  • Attend club meetings and activities regularly
  • Participate with enthusiasm in NAHS activities
  • Must be enrolled in at least one semester class in Visual Arts during the year.

Seniors: rainbow graduation cords are dependent on level of participation in NAHS.
