Comments / Explanations:

Race 7–Jockey DeanYendallwas fined the sum of $100 under AR 175(k) in that he was negligent in accepting two rides in Race 7.

RACE 1: TATTSBET.COM CLASS 1 HANDICAP– 1400METRES

Flying Ensign slow to begin and then made contact with the hind quarters of Pint of Pain which was carried in slightly by Roser’s Quest.

During the early and middle stages Nuclear Star got its head up when over racing.

On the latter part of the home turn Stella Etoile was inconvenienced when racing tight between Dartel and Nuclear Star after that mare shifted in slightly when contacted on its hindquarters.

Flying Ensign laid in under pressure approaching the 150metres.

RACE 2: VENARCHIE CONTRACTING BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP – 1600METRES

Moonless was slow to begin (3L).

Smoke ‘N’ Whiskey and Spun Sugar came together shortly after start.

Finalaregeeoveraced during the early stages

Poucher raced three wide without cover throughout.

Throughout the race Spun Sugar displayed a tendency to lay out.

Damien Thorton rider of Guru Rez could offer no explanation for its poor performance.

RACE 3: TOLL TASMANIA BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 2100 METRES

Das Good was checked when tightened for room on jumping between Steven’s Wonder and Sir Joey.

In the early and middle stages Sir Joey over raced which resulted in the gelding racing further forward than the connectionsintended.

Steven’s Wonder raced three wide without cover during the early and middle stages.

Steven’s Wonder laid in in the home straight and proved difficult to ride.

Damien Thornton rider of Evil Intent which performedpoorly explained the mare failed to respond to his riding from the 800metres. Thornton added in his view it would be better suited over moredistance.A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no apparent abnormalities.

AnthonyDarmaninrider of Settler’sJoy was reprimanded for using his whip on 7 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100metres which was two more than the permitted level.

Troy Baker rider of Das Good was severely reprimanded for using the whip when out of contention.

RACE 4 :LAUNCESTON CITY COUNCIL CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Triple Bee was slow to begin (1L).

Our Casanova raced three wide without cover throughout.

Passing the 100metres Devil’s Tears was tightened for room by Espry (Damien Thornton) which shifted in when under pressure. Damien Thornton was notified thathe would be expected to straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

DwayneDunn ride of Devil’s Tears stated that after being tightened near the 50metres he then did not ride his mount out for short distance as he was aware that Espry may continue to shift in.

AnthonyDarmanin rider of Huss Style whichperformed below market expectations explained that the mare raced off the bit for the majority of the race. A veterinary examination subsequent to the race revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Troy Baker rider of Gee Gees Style explained that the gelding which raced outside the leader displayed a tendency to over-race.

Sigrid Carr rider of Our Casanova was reminded of her obligations when using the whip in a forehand manner.

RACE 5:WINNING EDGE TROPHY OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Minute Repeater was not shown in the race book as wearing blinkers.

After being loaded in the barrier California Wish became fractious, reared and then sat down. The mare was removed, examined by the vet and passed fit to start. Connections were advised that after considering its overall record in relation to its barrier manners that it would be suspended for a period of one month and after that time, must trial to the Stewards satisfaction on two consecutive occasions.

Subsequent to the race a veterinary examination of California Wish revealed that it had blood in its off side nostril as Stewards were satisfied that this occurrence was attributable to the incident in the barriers no further action was taken.

RACE 6: STEVE’S LIQUOR GOLD SOVEREIGN STAKES – 1200 METRES

Gee Gees Top Notch jumped out at the start hampering Atalanta Miss.

Between the 900 metres and 700metresGeeGees Double Jo got its head up when being restrained off the heels of Gold Busker.

Near the 800metresGeegees Double Jo commenced to over-race and shifted wide, carrying Farnor West wider on the track.

Approaching the 600 metresAtalanta Miss, when improving, was checked off the heels of Siorca.

Near the 500 metres Gold Busker was momentarily inconvenienced when attempting to take a tight run between Naadam, which shifted out slightly, and Gee Gees Vicki.

For a short distance past the 300metresSiorca and Atalanta Miss were held up.

Passing the 200metresAtalanta Miss was checked when disappointed for a run to the inside of Nadam where there was barely sufficient roomafter that gelding shifted in slightly.

Approaching the winning post Our Cheerio was tightened for room between Naadam and Gee Gees Vicki

Jordan Childs rider of Farnor West which performed below expectations explained after finding a position in the field during the early stages the filly raced greenly and after receiving some interference near the 800metres did not fully respond to his riding thereafter.

Subsequent to the race it was reported that Band on the Run had sustained an injury to its off fore which required veterinary treatment prior to leaving the course.

RACE 7:PFD FOOD SERVICES 3YO CLASSIC – 1200 METRES

On arrival at the course GeegeesDoublejay was examined by the club vet.

Adam Trinder trainer of Valiant Warrior notified that it was connections intentions that the gelding would not attempt to lead today but remain close to the lead. This information was disseminated via course broadcaster and social media. The gelding was ridden accordingly.

Erin’s Element was slow to begin

Ohsotuf jumped away awkwardly.

GeegeesDoublejay raced threewide without cover throughout.

Lustica was held up for a clear run on the latter part of the home turn.

Entering the home straight Erin’s Element (Michelle Payne) shifted out and tookLustica out towards the heels of Meconsul. Ms Payne was notified to exercise more care.

RACE 8: BETFAIR LAUNCESTON CUP – 2400 METRES

Near the 700metresPelicano had to be restrained to avoid the heels of Banca Mo (DavidPires) which shifted out. MrPires was notified to ensure he is fully clear of other runners when in similar circumstances.

Near the 400metresGarud was tightened for room by Genuine Lad, which shifted in.

Approaching the 100metresBanca Mo and Genuine Lad brushed due to both horses shifting ground and over the last 100metres both horses then raced tightly. During this incident Banco Mo was accidently struck with the whip of Craig Williams, rider of Genuine Lad.

RACE 9: TATTSBET GEORGE ADAMS PLATE – 1600 METRES

Miss Middleton was slow to begin (1L).

Vibrant Rouge jumped away awkwardly unbalancing its rider before shifting in and bumping with Streetwise Savoir.

On the latter part of the home turn Jakcorijim was tightened for room between Admiral and Hellova Street whenAdmiral laid in slightly. Shorty after Admiral and Vibrant Rouge bumped.

Brendan McCoull rider of Admiral was found guilty of a charge under the provisions AR137(a),the particulars being near the 400metres he shifted out when insufficiently clear of Streetwise Savoire resulting in that gelding having to be restrained offheels. When assessing penalty the incident was deemed to be low and his licence was suspended for one Tasmanian race meeting commencing midnight 8th March 2015 and expiring midnight 11th March 2015.

RACE 10: COATES HIRE BENCHMARK 82 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

Catwen Boy was slow to begin.

Near the 1200metresPengalas Gee Gee when improving shifted in and contactedBundaleda

Near the 400metres Quest Master shifted out and brushed Bideford.

IsmalToker rider of Van Diemens Fire performed below expectations, explained in his opinion failed to handle the track surface today which had chopped out. A veterinary examination of the gelding subsequent to the race revealed it displaying signs of a poor recovery.

General

Jockey Daniel Ganderton pleaded guilty to a charge under AR160(B)(3) the particulars being that he had in his possession and used a mobile telephone outside the scales area. Mr Ganderton was finedthe sum of $200. When assessing penaltyStewards took in to account that they could verify the content of his phone call which related to a post-race discussion with a trainer.
