Comments/Explanations

Jockey Michael McDonald pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 120(b) for accepting a ride on Tilly Mak Addy for which he was subsequently found to be at least 3kg over the allotted weight (56kg). Michael McDonald was fined the sum of $100. Steward granted permission for Apprentice Jacques Luxe to replace Michael McDonald as there was no other suitable senior rider available.

RACE 1 – HARDINGS HOTMIXMAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES

Free was declared a late scratching at 12:35 pm as it was unable to be mounted in the mounting yard. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on Free to be refunded in full. All bets made prior to 12.35 pm were to be paid less fifty five cents in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and twenty seven cents in the dollar on the face value of the place ticket. Connections were advised that Free will need to complete a satisfactory trial before racing again.

Next Copy was slow to begin (1L).

Gotta Headache had a tendency to hang out at the 800 and 400 metres.

Gotta Headache and Red Abalone raced three wide in the early stages before getting cover in the one wide position.

RACE 3 – SEAROAD LOGISTICS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Allez Millie was declared a late scratching at 8.30 am on veterinary advice. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate must be submitted prior to the mare racing again.

Island Prince was declared a late scratching at 1:40 pm as the Clerks of the Course were unable to get this horse to the barrier. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on Island Prince to be refunded in full. All bets made prior to 1.40 pm pm were to be paid less thirteen cents in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and twelve cents in the dollar on the face value of the place ticket. Connections were advised that Island Prince mustcomplete a satisfactory trial before racing again.

Kentucky King was slow to begin (2L).

A post-race veterinary examination of Denim Fist revealed that the horsewas lame in the near side foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate must be submitted prior to Denim Fist racing again.

RACE 4 – SEAROAD SHIPPING CLASS A HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

Dubai Hero was a declared a late scratching at 1:20pm when the Veterinary Surgeon reported this colt was sore in the saddle region. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of clearance is required before racing again.

Yabusame raced wide in the early stages before tiring from the 500 metres.

RACE 6 – WILLIAM ADAMS ERN CHITTS BRACELET – 2200 METRES

Serengeti Miss was a declared late scratching at 8:30 am on veterinary advice. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of clearance must be submitted prior to racing again.

Jacques Luxe rider of Tilly Mak Addy reported that the mare had a tendency to switch off and switch on during the race.

FOLSOM hung in at the 800 metres.

RACE 7 – TASPORTS KING ISLAND CLASS A HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

GIPPSLAND BOY was slow to begin (3L).

Carryn Downie rider of Gippsland Boy reported that after missing the start she rode hard to make up lost ground and when she went to steady Gippsland Boy, he failed to respond and over raced before tiring from the 400 metres to finish last. Carryn Downie’s comments were noted.

Have You Heard was inconvenienced and moved wider on the track when Gippsland Boy raced to the inside of this gelding.

RACE 4 – KING ISLAND FOODWORKS CLASS A HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

Stewards today concluded and inquiry into the reasons for Eddington (Dylan Caboche (a)) having to be checked by its rider to avoid the heels of Tilly Mak Addy (Chris Nicoll) near the 1300 metres. After taking evidence from all parties, Stewards advised Chris Nicoll to ensure he is sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground in future.
