2014 RMLL Senior Lacrosse
The Senior B lacrosse teams of the RMLL and their commissioner invite all graduating junior players, their families and friends to join the teams at their 2014 junior draft night. Every year, the teams gather to draft graduating juniors of all levels to their ranks. Eligible players for the 2014 season are those that were born in 1992 and played in the RMLL in the 2013 season.
There are 6 Sr B teams in the RMLL Sr B division. North teams include the Edmonton Outlaws, St. Albert Miners and Spruce Grove Slash. South teams include the Calgary Mountaineers, Okotoks Raiders and Rockyview Knights.
There is a North Draft (for teams north of Leduc) and a South Draft (for teams south of Didsbury). All players graduating from Junior teams in these areas are included in the drafts. Players who played Junior on Southern Junior teams will be in the South Draft, and players on the Northern Junior teams are in the North Draft. There are noexceptions to this format even if the player has expressed a desire to play or live in another area of the Province. Central Alberta/Red Deer Graduating Juniors have the option to declare which Draft they wish to choose, but must do so prior to the Draft. Once the drafts are completed, the teams will inform the players that are drafted and the draft list will be posted on the RMLL website.
From Feb 1st until April 15th, the teams maintain a 50 man Protected list. This includes players from the previous season roster (max. 25), protected players, newlysigned free agents and their draft picks for the current year. On April 16th, the teams reduce to a 40 man Protected list, maintained for the balance of the season.
While a player is on the protected list of a team, he cannot attend floor sessions of another Sr B team, until he is released. Or, he can play Sr C and be used for a callup for all Sr B teams. If a player is released, or is not on a protected list, the player may attend any open tryouts held by any Sr B team.
