Feb. 2nd - Super Bowl at the Cagle’s. It was Seattle Seahawks vs Denver Broncos. Bob Miller was winner of $50 at half-time; Corrille Dewitt was $50 winner for final score! Seahawks won with a huge lead.

Feb 4 – S.C. Aquatic Plant Management Plan Council Meeting was attended by a record number of our members. This was the first time our membership was invited to attend what was more of a planning meeting and able to ask questions about the ‘plan’.

Feb – A letter was sent to Clemson University on behalf of the ‘Club’ in support of Crested Floating Heart being added to the SC Noxious Invasive Plant Species list. A response from Clemson was received.

Feb 28 – Happy Hour at Goat Island Restaurant

March 18 – S.C. Aquatic Plant Management Plan Council Meeting was attended by several boat members. Sadly there were only 7 responses from our membership.

Mar 22 – Elloree Trials was a great success! Weather was beautiful and attendance was excellent. Everyone returned home safely! Joe Campbell’s bus was not running so Bob Plance offered up his cargo van which was graciously accepted! Only mishap was Doug Blesie’s dramatic exit from the van! Thankfully the only thing that was hurt was Doug’s reputation for coordination!

March 29 – Oyster Roast at Kay & JerryHatcher’s was a huge success! Weather was good and everyone ate their fill of what were the best oysters anyone remembered having in a long time!! All boaters’ returned home safely. Big THANKS to the Hatchers.

April 4 – John Tricochewas presented the $2000 Scholarship at the opening ceremony of the Striped Bass Festival. Presentation was by Sandy Rolland and Dale Cozart. John is a senior at Manning High School. He plans to attend Clemson in the fall majoring in Agricultural Management. Go Tigers!

April 12 – Poker Run was held at John C. Land landing. Four Way Stop preformed. This was the first year that boat club members did not serve food. A local food vendor paid the club $500 to do all food. Sure made the Poker Run a lot easier on members!

Update on $$$$ later when the numbers are all in from Treasurer Marlene Hinds. +++ Update on $$$ or I should say LACK of $$$. Total profit was $1,397. Our proceeds were down 40% partly due to the Masters Golf Tournament & theNascar race in Darlington the same Saturday as the Poker Run.

May 16 – 27 – Spring Camping in Ladies Island. Campers were Alfred & Ann Kelley, Bob & J Miller and J’s brother Robby Conlin. Ann & Alfred’s son and daughter-in-law joined the fun as part-time campers. Jerry Hatcher also camped for 2 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The weather smiled on the campers this year. On Sunday, the 25th the Kelly’s hosted an island fish fry! As usual it was will attended and the fish was delicious!

May 30 - Happy Hour at Fish Market Grill. Lots of fun!

June 1 – Boat church & lunch on Green Island

June 7 – Retirement party for Jen Pallandino held at Red’s. 4-Way Stop played their usual great music and we all celebrated her retirement! Thank you for retiring Jen!!

June 27th – Happy Hour at Goat Island. Food and service was as expected.

July 25th – Happy Hour at Baxley’s – Only thing poorer than the attendance was the food! Carl’s chef salad was a leaf of limp lettuce and a cherry tomato! Doubt Baxley’s will be in business much longer.

July 27th – Boat Church followed by lunch at Green Island and J’s birthday celebration. Small group but lots of fun!

July 31st – Special Board Meeting called by Alfred Kelley & Carl Cagle. Purpose was to discuss and vote on the boat club logo. The “original” logo was overwhelmingly affirmed! Debra Gleaton brought up limiting the number of Board members and increasing the required attendance to 6 meetings a year. Committees were form to discuss and report back to the Board in December.

August 23 – Pump Island Trip and Sally McCown’s birthday celebration. Trip was great but sadly Sally & Romy had to leave due to Sally’s Mom not being well. New to the club, Stan & Benny joined us for fun & sun! We had great weather which is a bit unusual for our Pump Island trip.

August 29 – Happy Hour at Fish Market Grill was great! Alfred not having a good time due to battling an attack of gout in his knee  Afterwards we celebrated Sandy Rolland’s 70th birthday with gifts and cake at Sandy & Robin’s home.

Sept. 4-7th - Beaufort Trip was canceled. Members unable to do the trip this year for a variety of reasons.

September 26 – Happy Hour was at Red’s.

October 31 – Happy Hour at Lake View. A few members celebrated Halloween by coming in costume. Paid off for Jen Pallandino that came as an old women and won the contest for best costume!

Thanksgiving camping was replaced with Fall Camping but unfortunately that also had to be canceled. Alfred has been ill and since he and Ann are 50% of the campers they decided to cancel.

November meeting - Dale Cozart was presented with a plaque of appreciation for his work and leadership with the Scholarship program. Dale has turned over the chairmanship Hal White. Many, many thanks to Dale for a great job however I am sure the Scholarship is in good hands with Hal.

Thanksgiving dinner was moved to Carl & Carolyn’s due to Alfred being in the hospital at the VA in Columbia. Lots of good food and company!

December 5th & 6th – Christmas Parade – First year Alfred & Ann were not able to have a boat in the parade. Alfred just not up to it so Winston Hinds lead the parade in Taw Caw Creek. Beautiful evening for the parade! Several people watched from the Kelley’s dock. There were a total of 7 boats. Saturday night parade was lead by Bob Miller with 5 boats. Evening started out with drizzling rain but it soon stopped and was a beautiful calm night.

Dec 9 – Board meeting resulted in a couple of changes to our By-Laws. These will be presented to the membership at the January meeting.

Dec.13 – Christmas Party held at the Santee Resort Clubhouse. Furman Dominic DJ’ed and as usual did a great job. Prime rib buffet was great! There were two crazy women on the floor jiving to YMCA! The men were lead by Winston in a performance of ‘My Girl’ for the ladies and the ladies returned the favor by singing ‘My Guy’. As usual, Sandy Rolland was our spot-light diva!

New members in 2014 were Stan & Bennie Rhuland.
