Objective:ORSPissupportingthisresearchgrant programtopromoteproposal submission for major external funding. We encouragemultidisciplinaryresearchcollaborationsandpartnerships. Applications to develop full proposals on any fundable topic are eligible.Funds areto be usedfor AY 2017 –2018.

Deadline: Monday, March 5,2018(by 5:00 p.m.)

ProjectType: Please choose one of the following types of research proposals for funding:

Discipline Specific Research - One Principal Investigator (PI)

Multidisciplinary Research - Multiple PIs from different departments, colleges, or centers

Fund Award:A maximum of$10,000 for Discipline Specific Research (One PI);a maximum of $15,000for Multidisciplinary Research (Multiple PIs); Awarded funds areavailable for a period of12months(Noextensions;Nocarryovers).Atotalof$100,000hasbeenallocatedforthis grant. Awardees of the grantwillbeannouncedbyApril 2,2018.

Eligibility:AllCSULB tenured and tenure‐track facultyare eligibleto apply forthis award. The application may be by single PI (Discipline Specific Research) or maybejointlysubmittedbyatleasttwofacultyresearchinvestigatorsappointedindifferentdepartments,colleges,orcenters (Multidisciplinary Research).Preference will be given to proposals that will result in applications to Federal Funding agencies in response to standing solicitations carrying at least 26% indirect cost. PastORSP Research Grantrecipientsmusthavesubmittedbothafinalreportandafulllength,externalgrantapplicationthroughORSPbasedupontheORSP Research Grant in ordertobeeligibleforfunding.

Pending support include proposals that have been submitted or will be submitted simultaneously with the current proposal.

D.Theleadfacultyresearcherisresponsibleforsubmittingafinalreportwithin90daysaftertheORSP Research Grantexpiration date.

E.Itisrequiredthatfacultywillsubmitgrantapplication(s)toseekexternalfunding ($50,000 in direct funding)tocontinuetheresearchendeavorbeyondtheinitialCSULBresearchsupport within one year of receiving the ORSP Research Grant.

F.ReviewCriteria:Eachproposalwillbereviewedbyatleasttworeviewerswithexpertiseinrelatedfields.Overallqualityandmeritofeachapplicationwillbeevaluatedusingthefollowingcriteria: Intrinsic Merit, including levelofMultidisciplinaryCollaboration, if applicable(20%);PotentialforExternalFunding and level of external funding(20%);Methodology/ApproachtoAchieveGoals(15%);Innovation/ContributiontoField(15%); Research Qualifications of PI(s)/TrackRecord(10%);StudentParticipation(10%);and Budget Planning(10%).
