NOTICE OF RACE

1 RULES

1.1The races and series will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

2ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1The series is open to all ODC full members with boats that have a valid NC-PHRF Rating Certificate. Boats without a valid NC-PHRF Rating Certificate will be assigned a rating by the ODC NC-PHRF representative.

2.2Eligibility for the Cruising Class will be as follows:

a. No boat that qualified in any division during the previous year will be allowed

b. Only non-laminated woven polyester sails are allowed. No spinnakers are allowed.

c. Powered winches are allowed

d. Boat cannot have been designed for racing

Plus 2 of the following

1. Windless or pulpit mounted anchor

2. Dodger/bimini in place

3. The youngest sail is five years old or older

4. Bottom paint is three years old or older

2.3Racing Divisions:

Div 1Cruising Class

Div 2 JAM – PHRF > 168

Div 3 JAM – PHRF= < 168

Div 4 SPIN – PHRF= < 168

Div 5 Multihull

3SCHEDULE

3.1There will be twoseries Spring from 4/12 to 8/9 and Fall from 8/30 to 11/15

3.2Dates of Racing: The official schedule is posted on the ODC website.

3.3Number of races: Two races will be sailed each day. This may be changed by the race committee.

3.4The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first division is 1245. See the Sailing Instructions for details..

3.5At the conclusion of racing each day ODC will provide drinks and snacks at the gazebo at Sailcraft Marina, 1400 Tosto Circle, Oriental. Skippers, crew and race committee are invited.

4SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

4.1The sailing instructions are available on the ODC website.

5THE COURSES

The Signal Boat will set a course in the waters off of Oriental, NC. The marks of the course will be posted on the signal boat. The following government marks will be used: Garbacon, ‘G’; Oriental 1, ‘O’; and AC1, ‘A’. Marks ‘W’, ‘T’, ‘L’& starting pin are club cylinders. For triangles, the marks will be placed in order to make the laps approximately 3 miles. For the long triangle we will use A, O, and G. For the windward/leeward ‘W’ and the number of legs of the race will be displayed.For triangles ‘T’ will be displayed.

6SCORING

6.1Boats will be scored on theHigh Point Percentage system with 20% throwouts rounded down (1 for every 5 races).. Results will be posted on the ODC website. Only ODC member boats will be scored.

6.2Boats must sail in a minimum of 50% of the races sailed to be eligible for the series trophies. Only races in which you compete will be scored.

7RADIO COMMUNICATION

The Race committee may use VHF channel 78 to advise competitors.

8PRIZES

Trophies for all divisions will be awarded at the ODC Annual Meeting. The number of prizes awarded will depend on participation in each division.

9DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority does not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the regatta.

10INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
