2014 ASSEMBLY OF FIRST NATIONS SPECIAL CHIEFS ASSEMBLY

HOST COMMITTEE

“Our People, Our Land, Our Time”

The AFN Special Chiefs Assembly will take place from December 9-11, 2014 in Winnipeg. It will be hosted by Manitoba KeewatinowiOkimakanak, along with a Host Committee that includes the Southern Chiefs Organization and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs. The Host Committee requires volunteers for the following activities before and during the Assembly:

December 9-11, 2014 AFN Special Chiefs Assembly at the RBC Convention Centre

The AFN will require Volunteers for each of these days to show them where they need to be / assist:

•2-3 people for Registration Area –handing out badges and kits

•2-3 people to assist Ambassadors at doors to meeting (checking for badges, directing traffic etc.)

•2-3 people for Distribution Table –assist in handing out documents to the meeting delegates

•1-2 people in the Office –assist in copying, etc.

•1-2 people as Elders Assistant

The AFN Host Committee representatives will work with the Volunteers for each of these days on what they need to do:

•4-6 people for looking after the two sacred fires:one near the Convention Centre at the corner of Carlton Street and St. Mary’s Avenue, and another one at the Oodena Circle, at the Forks.

December 8, 2014 AFN Host Committee Families First Forum at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

The MKO representatives will work with the Volunteers on what is needed to do be done:

•2-3 people to assist Water Ceremony

•2 people to assist with Registration for the Forum

•2-4 people as note takers for two of the concurrent sessions

•2 people to assist with the synthesizing of what was heard

•2 people as Elders Assistant

Waking Up: Youth and Elders Forum at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on December 9

The Youth Representatives will work with the Volunteers on what is needed to do be done:

•2 people to assist with Registration for the Forum

•2 people as note takers

•2 runners

•2-4 people as Elders Assistant

December 10, 2014 AFN Host Committee Night of Traditional Music and Dance at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

The AFN Host Committee Representatives will work with the Volunteers on what is needed to do be done:

•2 people to assist with greeting attendees

•2 people to assist with working with the artists and Stage Manager

•2-4 people as Elders Assistant
