Comments/Explanations

Daniel Ganderton did not provide a medical certificate prior to tonight’s race meeting and was therefore examined by the on-course ambulance officers and passed fit to fulfil his engagements. After taking into account his individual circumstances Daniel Ganderton was reprimanded under AR 175(p) for failing to follow a direction of Stewards.

RACE 1 – TASBREEDERS 2YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE–1400 METRES

Must Confess jumped away awkwardly and struck the side of the barriers losing ground (1L).

Passing the 1200 metres At St Davids accidentally clipped the heels of Eternal Dream which resulted in Erhan Kacmaz rider of the gelding becoming unbalanced.

Near the 600 metres Glendevie was inconvenienced when tightened for room by The Spot which was taken out slightly by Porus.

Rounding the home turn The Spot layedin when under pressure and continued to lay in in the home straight.

For a short distance near the 400 metres Bachelor’s Life was held up and unable to obtain a clear run.

In the home straight Glendevie layed in when under pressure.

Kim Moore rider of Military Boy which performed below expectations explained that the gelding failed to respond to her riding from the 600 metres butshe could offer no further explanation for tonight’s performance. Mrs Moore added that the gelding felt normal in its action upon pulling up.

RACE 2 – ARMIDALE STUD 2YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 METRES

The start was delayed approximately 2 minutes when, after being loaded into the barriers, Warrior’s Quest became fractious and reared. The gelding was removed from the gates and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon before being passed fit to take its place in the field. Trainer L Dalco was advised that a warning was issued against the gelding’s barrier manners.

Tyrekicker and Sheza Fatty Boomba were both slow to begin (1L).

Chain Of Prayers was slow into stride.

Passing the 1000 metres Lancashire got its head up when being restrained.

Near the 500 metres Royal Bluff was tightened for room between Sheza Fatty Boomba which laid in under pressure and Little May which was taken out slightly by Dubawi Diamond.

Little May raced wide throughout.

Over the last 100 metres Tyrekickerlayed in when under pressure.

RACE 3 – CARLTON DRAUGHT MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE- 2100 METRES

Sonetto was declared a late scratching at 7.37 am when Trainer John Blacker reported that the mare was lame in the off fore leg. John Blacker was advised that he must submit a veterinary certificate prior to Sonetto racing again.

During the early stages Count The Stars when over-racing shifted out to avoid the heels of Wise Investment.

Sure Up The Future raced wide throughout.

Over the last 100 metres Aladonilayed in when under pressure.

RACE 4 – AUTOBARN BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP - 1600 METRES

Kentucky Tea was slow to begin (2L).

Uboa raced wide throughout.

In the home straight Guru Rez displayed a slight tendency to lay in when under pressure.

BulentMuhcu rider of Danestone which performed below expectations explained that from the 600 metres the gelding failed to respond to his riding which may be contributed to the prevailing track conditions.

RACE 5 – ELIZA PARK CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

Maglia Rosa jumped away awkwardly.

Ordain was slow into stride.

Near the 800 metres Persian Jewels shifted in and made contact with Sister Quest. Sister Quest then had to be restrained to avoid the heels of Vision Touch.

Passing the 800 metres Osborne got its head up when over racing and then shifted out resulting in Maglia Rosa being restrained.

Rounding the home turn Laharunlayed in when under pressure.

Between the 400 metres and the 300 metres Persian Jewels which was laying in was unable to obtain a run to the outside of the heels of Court Candel.

Laharunlayed in over the last 100 metres.

Kodie Grace rider of Ordain was found guilty of a charge under AR 145 in that he weighed in 1 kilo overweight and was subsequently fined $150.

Kodie Grace rider of Ordain was reprimanded under AR 137A(4)(a) in that he used his whip forward of his mount’s shoulder and was also reprimanded under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres which is one more than permitted under the rules.

RACE 6 – NEWSTEAD HOTEL CLASS 2 HANDICAP- 1400 METRES

Approaching the 400 metres Willow The Wisp which displayed a tendency to lay in was held up for a short distance when unable to improve to the outside of Carnelian Crystal.

Near the 300 metres Willow The Wisp which continued to lay in had difficulty in obtaining a run to the outside of Carnelian Crystal.

RACE 7 – BALMORAL ON YORK OPEN HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

Am I There Yet jumped away awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.

Prince Obama jumped away awkwardly.

Ismail Toker rider of Just A Beach which performed below expectations explained that the gelding which normally races back in the field travelled well until placed under pressure and in his opinion did not appreciate the track surface which had become chopped up. Ismail Toker further explained that the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of Just A Beach revealed no apparent abnormality.

RACE 8 – ELITE SECURITY BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

Adam Trinder trainer of Vila made application to add a barrier blanket to the approved gear. After considering the request and the circumstances Stewards permitted the mare to wear the gear. A public announcement was made to this effect.

Vila layed in for the majority of the race.

Passing the 200 metres and again passing the 100 metres Royal Express layed in when under pressure.

Millie Whitehouse-Summers rider of Vila which performed below expectations explained that the mare had a tendency to layin throughout and from the 800 metres she failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate and a slower than normal recovery.

GENERAL

Stewards tonight interviewed Apprentice Chantal Willis and her Master Leon Wells in relation to a report that was received from Racing Queensland Stewards pertaining to her ride on 12 March 2014. Miss Willis was reminded of her obligations when riding horses that either lead or race in a forward position.

Adjourned Inquiry – Tasmanian Turf Club – 26 March 2014

RACE 8 – COUNTRY CLUB HOTEL MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE – 1600 METRES

Stewards continued an inquiry adjourned from the Tasmanian Turf Club meeting on 26 March 2014 into the reason Sonetto and Grandarci were checked near the 400 metres. Further evidence was taken from Rasit Yetimova rider of Long Lashes, Millie Whitehouse-Summers rider of Sonetto, Chantal Willis rider of Windedo, Rhonda Mangan rider of Grandarciand Leon Wells Master of Rasit Yetimova. This inquiry was further adjourned until Sunday 6 April 2014.

RACE 5 – ARMIDALE STUD “NEEDS FURTHER” VAMOS STAKES - 1400 METRES

After receiving a written complaint from Peter Luttrell trainer of Fashion Label in relation to the riding tactics adopted by Rasit Yetimova in Race 5 – Armidale Stud “Needs Further” Vamos Stakes at the Tasmanian Turf Club meeting on 19 February 2014 Stewards interviewed Peter Luttrell, Rasit Yetimova and his Master Leon Wells. After taking evidence from those parties the inquiry was adjourned until 16 April 2014.
