2013 TSU Pre-College Engineering Summer Programs

Please check PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER PROGRAM for which you are applying:

Engineering Concepts Institute (E.C.I.) – HBCU-UP/STEM Rising Freshman Institute (four-week residential program for TSU accepted, incoming, STEM majors Fall 2013 freshman).

High school graduate will study college pre-calculus/calculus, statics, physics and other engineering concepts. A group project will be required to complete program.

Student Dates: June 9- July 6, 2013

STIPEND--$2,000 plus room and board Employment Dates: June 5-July 8, 2013

Number of employees—four (juniors-graduate students)

Required to live in dormitories with students and supervise all night and weekend activities.

National Summer Transportation Institute (N.S.T.I.) (four-week residential program) — Students will study different types of transportation careers, transportation engineering majors, perform various civil engineering experiments/labs and tour various transportation facilities in Tennessee and Alabama. Grades 10-12

Student Dates: June 9 – July 6, 2013

STIPEND--$2,000 plus room and board Employment Dates: June 5-July 8, 2013

Number of employees—four (sophomores–graduate students)

Required to live in dormitories with students and supervise all night and weekend activities.

PrePre-Engineering Program to Stimulate Interest in Engineering (P.E.P.S.I.E.)—COMMUTER/DAY

program for students to study various engineering majors in computer science, robotics, perform

various robotic experiments and tour Nissan Manufacturing, Inc. Grades 9-11

Student Dates: July 22-26, 2013

STIPEND--$250.00 plus lunch Employment Dates: July 21-27, 2013

Number of employees—four (sophomores-graduate students)

Required to supervise students from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. for five days.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATION PACKAGES WILL BE NOT CONSIDERED

Students will be permitted to enroll for 2013 TSU Summer School classes. Students may select to use their stipends for summer school or for personal expenses. If a student is employed for one of the CoE Pre-Engineering Programs, the student will be allowed to attend classes. Students will be required to mentor, teach, supervise and tutor pre-engineering/STEM students.
