AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE CHAPIN EAGLES RUGBY CLUB FOR ITS SECOND UNDEFEATED SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE CLUB’S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS AND COACHESFOR CAPTURING THE 2011 SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to learn that the ChapinEagles Rugby Club took first place at the South Carolina High School Rugby state competition on April 17, 2011; and
Whereas, to the delight of their fans and the disappointment of their foes, Chapin defeated the Greenville Red Raider Rugby Club100 to take home thewinner’s trophy in this year’s playoffs; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps a stellar season for the Chapin club members, who swept their conference and went undefeated for the second year; and
Whereas, showing its mettle through determination and hard work, the Chapin Eagles Rugby Clubhas endured rucking and mauling in grueling practices to reach itswellearned place at the top; and
Whereas, Head Coach andForwards Coach Neil Richards, Backs Coach Ken McCarthy, Assistant Backs CoachViv Carlick, Assistant Backs CoachScott Hamilton, and Assistant Forwards CoachJody Lanier used their own athletic training and leadership skills to forge these players into a championship team and to instill standards of excellence that will serve them well throughout life; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is grateful for the pride and recognition that the fine young athletes of the Chapin Eagles Rugby Club have brought to their school and their community, and the members wish them all the best as they travel to Sanford, Florida, to represent South Carolina in the USA Rugby South Regional Championships, April 30May 1, 2011. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Chapin Eagles Rugby Club for its second undefeated season, and congratulate the club’s exceptional players and coachesfor capturing the 2011 South Carolina High School Rugby State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Neil Richards on behalf of the Chapin Eagles Rugby Club.
