EDUCATEAlabama (EA) is Alabama’s online formative assessment process designed to provide information about an educator’s current level of practice within the Alabama Continuum for Teacher Development (link), which is based on the Alabama Quality Teaching Standards (link) (AQTS).
The AQTS constitutes the foundation of the teaching profession while the Continuum is a tool used to guide educator reflection, self-assessment,
and goal setting for professional learning and growth.

The following report provides statewide data based on local education agencies’ (LEAs) participation in the EA online process during 2010 – 2011.

System Code – Alabama State Department of Education’s numerical system for identifying LEAs (school systems)
System Name – County and City LEA names in alphabetical order
Total Users – All LEA instructional leaders and educators
Super – LEA Superintendents
Instructional Leaders – Superintendents, central office staff, principals, assistant principals, career technical education directors
Educators – All regular classroom and special education teachers, school librarians, school counselors, psychometrists/psychologists, reading coaches
Complete SA – # educators within an LEA completing the required *Educator Self Assessment
* The self-reflection component of the EA process based on the 39 indicators of the Alabama Continuum for Teacher Development
Completed PLP –# educators within the LEA completing the required *Professional Learning Plan (PLP)
* The educator’s plan for professional growth based on the completed Educator Self Assessment and Dialogue held with the
instructional leader at the beginning of the school year.
NOTE: LEAs not listed are using a locally developed formative evaluation process accepted by the SDE.
