2009 Wheelchair Rugby Tryout Camp Announced

Below is the list of athletes invited to participate in the 2009 USA Wheelchair Rugby Tryout camp at Lakeshore Foundation Olympic and Paralympic Training Site, December 11 – 14, 2008. This will be the first round of selections for the team that will participate in the 2009 America Zone Qualifier in October, 2009.

Anyone wishing to protest to have their name added to the list should contact Patty Cornelius and James Gumbert as directed below.

Protest Procedure:

·  Forward an email to and stating why you are protesting to have your name added to the list. This letter should come directly from the athlete with information describing skills, experience, past accomplishments, etc.

o  Minimal Guidelines:

§  The highest level of international experience you can have is one World Championship and/or one Paralympic Games (in Rugby)

§  You must be a member in good standing with the USQRA and currently playing on a registered team.

§  You must have played with a registered USQRA team at two full seasons.

§  You must be able to attend all camps and the competition in October.

·  Forward an email of support from your coach or a coach you have worked with who can share information about your skills, ability and potential.

·  Mail video footage of a full game where your participated for at least 10 minutes to:

o  Please note that 33 invitations were sent out. Only those slots not filled by invitees will be available.

o  A final decision will be based on:

§  A comparison to other invited athletes in the same classification

§  Analysis of the provided video footage

§  Input from the selection committee

·  All information must be received by Friday November 7, 2008. You will receive a response by Tuesday November 11, 2008.
