Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representativesis pleased to note that the Carver High School Class of 1965 will celebrate its fortyfifth anniversary with a class reunionJuly 911, 2010, in Spartanburg; and
Whereas, Carver High School, named for the great black scientist Dr. George Washington Carver, was created in 1938. The twelveclassroom structurewas erected at a cost of $65,000, and Mr. C.C. Woodson began his tenure of thirtyfive years in the office of principal with a first faculty of thirteen; and
Whereas, as part of the consolidation plan of 1970, Carver High was converted into Carver Junior High School, and all students in grades 1012 were placed under one roof at the present Spartanburg High School; and
Whereas, during the years the Class of 1965 studied at Carver the teachers, with care and encouragement, imparted knowledge and guidance and a sense of hope for their futures, while the school provided a well-rounded education on all fronts necessary for success in every aspect of life; and
Whereas, notably, the Class of 1965 traveled to New York for its senior trip and came home with landmarks and unforgettable experiences etched in memories and hearts. These events were rivaled only by the junior/senior prom and graduation itself, which sent forth one hundred sixtyfive students into the world; and
Whereas, in recognition of nearly half a century of achievement on the part of Carver High School’s Class of 1965, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in saluting the class at this special time in their history. Now, therefore,
