AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE ALLENDALEFAIRFAX HIGH SCHOOL GIRLSTRACKTEAM FORWINNING THE 2009 CLASS A GIRLS STATETRACKANDFIELD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO COMMEND THE TEAM’S OUTSTANDING ATHLETES AND COACH.

Whereas, on May 16, 2009, the AllendaleFairfax High School girls track team sealed a 9188 victory over Landrum to capture the 2009 Class A Girls StateTrackandField Championship at the title meet, held atthe Lower Richland High School Stadium; and

Whereas, oblivious to the rain that had been threatening all afternoon as it finally fell, jubilant team members received the school’sfirst state championship trophy for girls track, a pleasure the Tigers are already planning to repeat; and

Whereas, among the team’s staunchest supporters were the members of AllendaleFairfax’s boys track team, whoearlier in the day on the same field had packed up their third championship trophy to take home; and

Whereas, freshman Shaquivia Springer, racking up Tiger gold in both the high jump and triple jump, gave the girls track team a significant push toward its top finish; and

Whereas, Coach Wayne Farmer deserves kudos for building his girls track program, which for 20082009 was without a single senior, into a championship team. His athletes rose to the challenge and will be back next year even stronger; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to recognize the young women of the AllendaleFairfax High School girls trackteam for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the field and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the AllendaleFairfaxHigh School girls trackteam forwinning the 2009 Class AGirlsState Trackand Field Championship title, and commend the team’s outstanding athletes and coach.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Terrance Alridge and Coach Wayne Farmer of AllendaleFairfax High School.
