Instructions for Submissions

The Crystal Achievement Awards are determined by three panels of judges. For our Technology award categories (see above), we put together a large group of judges representing a cross-section of the window and door industry. Judges include previous winners and a broad mix of executives, consultants and personnel involved in product development, marketing, production, sales and distribution. Judges are not allowed to vote for their own companies.

To best meet our needs in the Technology award categories, we need to receive basic descriptive information of the entry from you, with particular focus on the unique or innovative elements. Because of the volume of entries our judges are asked to review, we ask that you keep descriptive information brief. We ask you to keep the length of any submissions to no more than 400 words total. Although not required, you can also submit photos or digital images (TIFF, EPS, or JPEG files) with your nomination. Please do not send samples for the Technology category nominations as we are logistically not able to provide them to our large panel of judges.

Once the Technology nominations are received, Window & Door prepares a Crystal Achievement Judging Package, which consists of descriptive information and photographs of the entries. Judges are asked to look over the information and rank their choices in the categories in which they wish to vote.

For our Manufacturing and Marketing category awards, we use two smaller panels of judges with expertise in those arenas. Although it is not required, nominees in our Manufacturing categories (Most Innovative Plant and Most Innovative Machine) may provide us with six sets of DVDs, brochures or other materials to provide judges with more detailed information. For Marketing nominations in the Most Innovative Program and Best Product Literature categories, we require in most cases that in addition to a basic overall description of your entry, describing the goal, target audience, unique elements, etc., that nominees submit six sets of samples. These might include catalogs, brochures, videos, CD-ROMs, copies of advertisements and other promotional items.

For these Manufacturing and Marketing nominations, materials and samples should be sent to Stacey Freed, 1945 Old Gallows Rd., Suite 750, Vienna, VA 22182. We will then forward all materials to our individual judges.
