A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE LOWER RICHLAND HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL SENSATION MIKE JONES FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AS A STAR ATHLETE FOR THE DIAMOND HORNETS AND FOR BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAAA MEN’S HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR BY THE STATE NEWSPAPER.

Whereas, Mike Jones, a junior star athlete at Lower Richland High School in Richland County, has distinguished himself on the basketball court for the Diamond Hornets for the past three seasons; and

Whereas, during the 20032004 season, he was a member of the: All Region Five AAAA Team; All State SCBCA Team; and All State Sport Report Team; and

Whereas, during that season, he also was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player, was selected for the All Area Team by the State Newspaper, was named the Most Valuable Player in the Capitol City Classic, Most Valuable Player for the Hilton Head Seahawk Classic, and named the AAAA Player of the Year by the State Newspaper; and

Whereas, during the 20042005 season, he averaged nineteen points, twelve rebounds, and three blocked shots per game; and

Whereas, during this season, he was honored by being selected as a member of the: All Region Five AAAA Team; All State SCBCA Team; and All State Sport Report Team; and

Whereas, in addition, during the 20042005 season he was selected as the Diamond Hornets Team Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Player for the Capitol City Classic, Most Valuable Player for the ChickFilA Classic, and AAAA Player of the Year by the State Newspaper; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to recognize Mike Jones for his outstanding accomplishments. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Lower Richland High School Basketball sensation Mike Jones for his outstanding achievements as a star athlete for the Diamond Hornets and for being named South Carolina Class AAAA Men’s High School Basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive year by the State Newspaper.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mike Jones, South Carolina Class AAAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Year for 20032004 and 20042005.
