A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES TO MR. AND MRS. RICHARDS TODD OF WEST COLUMBIA ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND TO THIS DELIGHTFUL COUPLE EVERY BEST WISH FOR MANY MORE TO COME.

Whereas, the members of the Senate are extraordinarily pleased to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Richards Todd of West Columbia will be celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary this month; and

Whereas, Richards and Harriet Todd are truly delightful people who are natives of Laurens; and

Whereas, Richards is a distinguished member of the South Carolina Bar who, in addition to his working with the electric cooperatives, retired as assistant director and attorney for the South Carolina Legislative Council in 1990; and

Whereas, this very close and loving couple are blessed with four wonderful children, two boys and two girls, and three loving grandchildren; and

Whereas, Richards and Hattie are strong University of South Carolina supporters who attend just about every home basketball, baseball, and football game and also travel to many away games; and

Whereas, their love for travel included trips to Europe, Alaska, and most of the continental United States during which they enjoyed camping with the children when the children were younger; and

Whereas, they are founding members of Providence Presbyterian Church in West Columbia where Richards served as an elder, deacon, and a member of the choir; and

Whereas, they enjoy the summer months at their home in Brevard, North Carolina, where they entertain both family and friends on the golf course and at the bridge table; and

Whereas, their many friends at the State House want them to know that they are deeply missed both at the State House and during the after hours legislative functions which they regularly attended together; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, are pleased to recognize Richards and Harriet Todd on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and look forward to celebrating many more with them in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate extend their heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Richards Todd of West Columbia on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and extend to this delightful couple every best wish for many more to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. Richards Todd.
