A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE LATAE HUDSON OF SUMTER COUNTY FOR BEING NAMED YOUTH OF THE YEAR BY THE SALVATION ARMY BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF THE CAROLINAS AND TO COMMEND HER FOR HER EXTENSIVE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.

Whereas, the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club is an organization that strives to implement programs that change lives, either academically, socially, or recreationally, in order to reduce the perils and pitfalls of life some children are subjected to outside the home; and

Whereas, LaTae has been an integral part of the Boys and Girls Club for over eight years and throughout that time has been involved with a myriad of community activities, while continually concentrating on her academic studies; and

Whereas, the Boys and Girls Club taught her how to relate to people and she received the academic support needed to succeed at a competitive level necessary to prepare for the future; and

Whereas, her recent involvement with the Boys and Girls Club has been mentoring some of the children, helping them with their homework, and providing them with some practical advice; and

Whereas, LaTae’s community involvement, academic excellence, and maturity beyond her years helped her win the Youth of the Year award presented by the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of the Carolinas; and

Whereas, she received a one thousand dollar scholarship from the Boys and Girls Club in Sumter as well as a scholarship from the North and South Carolina chapter, after being selected from hundreds of nominees; and

Whereas, LaTae, who is already enrolled at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, plans to major in biology and then attend the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to become a pediatrician; and

Whereas, LaTae’s passion and love for children has made a huge impact on the lives of many adolescents and she is an outstanding symbol of the important role of the Boys and Girls Club. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate LaTae Hudson of Sumter County for being named Youth of the Year by the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of the Carolinas and commend her for her extensive community involvement and academic excellence.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to LaTae Hudson.
