Whereas, strength, passion, perseverance, and a strong desire to win along with the ability to play as a team are quintessential attributes of any championship caliber team; and

Whereas, these key qualities instilled into each member of the BatesburgLeesville High School “Panthers” football team by Coach McInnis and his staff combined with the natural talent already possessed by each player resulted in a true championship team; and

Whereas, even after a long season filled with injuries and fatigue, the team remained strong and continued to exemplify the true meaning of teamwork by defeating four number one teams on the road; and

Whereas, the Panthers overcame two regular season losses to triumph over the Cheraw Braves by a score of 2721 in a classic hardfought, nailbiting championship game at WilliamsBrice Stadium; and

Whereas, this championship was an especially momentous occasion for retiring Assistant Coach Heyward Bouknight who has been a devoted friend and mentor of the BatesburgLeesville High School football team since 1985; and

Whereas, Coach McInnis, his staff, and members of the BatesburgLeesville High School football team are to be commended for their hard work and dedication and the recognition the have brought to their school, community, and county. Now, therefore,
