A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA’S MOST OUTSTANDING EDUCATORS, DR. LEE C. RAWL, PRINCIPAL OF HONEA PATH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, FOR HIS EXEMPLARY CAREER AS A TEACHER AND PRINCIPAL UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS PRINCIPAL OF HONEA PATH ELEMENTARY.

Whereas, Dr. Lee C. Rawl of Honea Path is one of South Carolina’s most outstanding educators. He began his educational career as a teacher in 1971, and in 1978, he became a public school principal and is presently Principal of Honea Path Elementary School which is a 2004 National Blue Ribbon award-winning school and which has also won the state’s Gold Award for the past four years; and

Whereas, Dr. Rawl received a B.S. degree in education from the University of South Carolina in 1971, a M.A.T. in School Administration in 1976 from Winthrop University, a Ed.S. in School Administration from Clemson University in 1986, and a Ed.D. in Management of Education Programs in 1997 from Nova Southeastern University; and

Whereas, Lee Rawl’s many fortes include facilitating teacher success, developing staff development programs, strategic planning, evaluation of programs and staff, site based management, conflict resolution, and grant writing; and

Whereas, he has also been associated with several major universities including work as an adjunct on site instructor for Strayer University, an online instructor for Northcentral University, an instructor for Forrest College in Anderson, and graduate level teacher at Southern Wesleyan University; and

Whereas, he is also a highly respected civic, church, and business leader in his community who has given so much to make Honea Path a better place to live and work; and

Whereas, Dr. Rawl is married to Peggy McMillan Rawl and they are the proud parents of four wonderful children; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to recognize and commend this truly fine South Carolinian upon his retirement as Principal of Honea Path Elementary School. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, recognize and commend one of South Carolina’s most outstanding educators, Dr. Lee C. Rawl, Principal of Honea Path Elementary School for his exemplary career as a teacher and principal upon the occasion of his retirement as Principal of Honea Path Elementary School.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Lee C. Rawl.
