A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO EXTEND THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO MAESTRO LIVIO VALENTINI OF ITALY FOR HIS CONTINUOUS IMPACT AND DEDICATION TO FINE ARTS EDUCATION IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND PARTICULARLY IN THE AIKEN COMMUNITY AND TO BESTOW UPON HIM AN HONORARY CITIZENSHIP OF SOUTH CAROLINA, EXTENDING THE COURTESY OF ALL RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES UPON HIS VISITS TO THIS STATE.
Whereas, it is a privilege to be able to learn from citizens of foreign countries about the similarities and differences in our cultures, our governments, our education systems, and many other aspects of everyday life; and
Whereas, Maestro Livio Valentini of Italy has visited the State of South Carolina on numerous occasions lending the beauty of his artwork and giving intriguing lectures to the students and faculty of the University of South CarolinaAiken and to the citizens of the City of Aiken; and
Whereas, with every visit, the Aiken community is enlightened by Maestro Valentini’s artistic talents and Italian experiences and is able to become aware of new economic endeavors between Aiken and its sister city of Orvieto, Italy; and
Whereas, Maestro Valentini not only contributes to the collegiate students of Aiken, but he also gives time to high school students in the area by explaining the fun and excitement of exchange programs; and
Whereas, on his most recent visit to our State with his wife, Flora, Maestro Valentini’s artwork “Galassia” was dedicated to the University of South CarolinaAiken and the University presented him with an honorary doctorate degree; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate are extremely grateful for Maestro Valentini’s contributions and commitment to the State of South Carolina and are proud to be able to grant him honorary citizenship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, extend our appreciation to Maestro Livio Valentini of Italy for his continuous impact and dedication to fine arts education in the State of South Carolina and particularly in the Aiken community and bestow upon him an honorary citizenship of South Carolina, extending the courtesy of all rights and privileges upon his visits to this State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Maestro Livio Valentini of Italy and to Chancellor Thomas L. Hallman of the University of South CarolinaAiken.
