VERSIONS OF THIS BILL

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE NINETYSIX HIGH SCHOOL “WILDCATS” GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH, BETH MILLER, FOR THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN IN THE DIVISION 1A VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.

Whereas, being a member of a sports team allows young people to have the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork with developing great athletic talents; and

Whereas, to be a champion in volleyball, all members of the team and coaching staff must have outstanding leadership and physical abilities; and

Whereas, under the guidance of Head Coach Beth Miller, the NinetySix Girls Volleyball Team clenched their second straight win over Johnsonville High School to capture the 1A state championship title; and

Whereas, the “Wildcats” had faced Johnsonville High before and were prepared for a tough match as they attempted to defend their state title at White Knoll High School on November 8, 2003; and

Whereas, the championship began with NinetySix taking the lead in the first match with a score of 2517 and continuing that lead into the second match, capturing the 2521 victory; and

Whereas, although Johnsonville edged out NinetySix in the third match 2725, the NinetySix “Wildcats” were determined not to let it happen again and rallied back with a devastating 2510 victory in the fourth match, sealing their championship victory for the second year in a row; and

Whereas, the members of this championship team include Leanna Willis, Erinn Temple, Megan Rushton, Jessica McClendon, Tiara Pope, Brandy Collins, Meagan Frazier, Samantha Stewart, Morgan Layne, Claudia Boswell, Lindsey Eargle, Sarah Caldwell, and Amanda Chrisley; and

Whereas, the NinetySix Girls Volleyball Team has brought great pride to not only their friends and family but also to the students, faculty, alumni, and staff of NinetySix High School and the community as a whole; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the physical abilities of these young South Carolinians and hope that they will use their athletic skills and abilities in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the members of the NinetySix High School “Wildcats” Girls Volleyball Team and their Head Coach, Beth Miller, for their second consecutive state championship win in the Division 1A Volleyball Championship and commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication to become a championship team.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the members of the Ninety-Six High School Girls Volleyball Team and Head Coach, Beth Miller.
