A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 45290 SO AS TO REQUIRE THAT AN INNKEEPER CONSPICUOUSLY POST TELEPHONE, EMAIL, ONLINE, AND FAX RATES CHARGED IN ITS LODGING ESTABLISHMENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 2 of Title 45 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

“Section 45290. The innkeeper of a lodging establishment must post in a conspicuous place in its office and next to the telephone in each room of its lodging establishment a notice of the rates it charges for local, longdistance, tollfree, and roomtoroom telephone calls, electronic mail messages, internet online access, and facsimile transmissions.”

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
