AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 191 OF 1971, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY RECREATION DISTRICT, SO AS TO TRANSFER TO THE COUNTY GOVERNING BODY THE AUTHORITY TO APPOINT COMMISSION MEMBERS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Method of appointment
SECTION1.Section 4 of Act 191 of 1971, as amended by Act 381 of 1977, is further amended to read:
“Section 4.The district shall be governed by a ninemember commission appointed by the county governing body for terms of five years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. A vacancy on the commission shall be filled in the manner of original appointment for the unexpired term.
The commission shall organize by electing one of its number as chairman, a second as vice chairman, and a third as secretary. The officers of the commission shall hold office for terms of one year and until their successors are elected. It shall be the duty of the commission to furnish a record of the appointees and their terms to the clerk of court to be filed in his office. No member of the commission shall receive any compensation for his services as a member of the commission.”
Time effective
SECTION2.This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
