Position: Project Safety and Health Officer/Manager
Project :Tank Cleaning, Expansion of Waste Water Treatment Plant, Installation of New Air Pre-heater, Installation of New Blower Unit and Demolition of PD 1 Unit,
Responsibilities :
  • To conduct safety induction training for all person gaining entry for the first time in Cabot’s premises.
  • To train & educate contractors and employees to the company compliance procedures on: - safety work procedures, hot work, confine space entry, line breaking, LOTO ( lock out & tag out), emergency and working at height procedure.
  • To inspect scaffold erected within the plant
  • To inspect visibly heavy machineries i.e.: - crane, sky-lift, trailers, air compressors and etc. prior entry to the plant.
  • To accommodate and inspect jointly with environmental personal for water sampling (discharge point), noise monitoring and dust monitoring (ambient air) within and external of the plant area.
  • Demolition works on PD1 unit, installation of new air pre-heater shutdown works, tank-cleaning works, and installation of new blower at PD3 modification works on flocculation tank (WWTP)
  • To check and monitor the compliance and guidelines drawn by Cabot Malaysia that are in place and further to that a project safety guidelines was also implemented through the above mention projects.
  • A total number of 350 workforce were in place and in compliance on safety, security, environment, health & emergency procedure, incentive programmer was also initiated and enforced for this project.

Responsibilities :-
  • Part of the team to conduct training & induction program for all personnel prior entry to TA ’05, this was on-line with Shell Refining procedures and requirements LRCCU was spliced into two (2) groups of safety monitoring.
  • was in charge in the workout section with five (5) safety officers and supervisors. The other was at the R&R area (Reactor & Regenerator) approximately 180 exchangers, 9 columns, 180 vessel, major lifting were the 66 inch pipes & 40 inch pipe line by 500 tone and 300 tone mobile cranes.
  • Shutdown from June 21st to July 15th ’05 with one thousand hundred and twenty workforce at site.

Responsibilities :
  • This was a major shutdown of BP Amoco whereby the diver unit (Backbone unit –of-the plant) was overhauled and new tubes (109pcs) were replaced.
  • The preparation for the shut down took two (2) months ahead, as the JSA (Job Safety Analysis) for every step of work had to be in place, approved and followed accordingly, drug & alcohol test was also a major aspect in his project.
  • All workers were screened by local and appointed physicians/Doctor. A full day course, (4) four times a week training for Man Way Watch, Fire Watch, Signal Man, Confine Space entry and all other work commended for 2 weeks that was from may 2nd till 16th 2001.

  • Joint inspection together with TNB & TNBG around the site to rectify every unsafe act & conditions. To ensure every workers know their job and to conduct it safely. Rigger, Signalman and Crane Operators were given on the job training. Environment was also a major activity in this demolition project where we had to comply with the ISO 4001 standards

To promote and conduct safety audit (contractors and sub contractors rep), monthly safety meeting committee, monthly safety gathering with all workers, weekly safety audit (UAA & UAC) joint safety inspection by owner, client and us (main contractor). Monthly tower crane inspection (12 nos) with color-coding & to control safety budgets.
