Abstract

<10 point blank line>

The word abstract, above, is small caps, bold, 12-point centered Times New Roman. All other words in the abstract are 10-point, Times New Roman, bold, and justified. All blank lines are 10 point. The Abstract section does not have a Roman numeral in the heading.

<10-point blank line>

Two blank spaces follow the period at the end of every sentence in the paper. A 10-point blank line separates paragraphs in the abstract. Do not indent.

I. Introduction

<12-point blank line>

All headings are centered in Times New Roman (TNR) 12, small caps, preceded by a Roman numeral with a period, and one blank space. Headings are also preceded by two 12-point blank lines and followed by one 12-point blank line.

<12-point blank line>

A 12-point blank line separates paragraphs. Do not indent. All text is TNR 12-point, regular (not bold).

Margins for the entire paper are 2-column, 2.75” width, with a 0.5” space between columns.

II. History

Every paper must have a History section. Note the extra blank lines at the end of the preceding column. The blank lines are used to force the heading into this column. Otherwise, the section title would have been left dangling in a column by itself. Do not leave a heading dangling in a column by itself. Extra blank lines may be used to force a column heading to a new column. The History section must contain specific dates and referenced information.

III. Visuals

A minimum of one visual per team

<12-point blank line>

<12-point blank line>

member is required. Each visual must

be surrounded by a box, and must be numbered in order of appearance in the

paper.

All visuals must have a 10-point centered caption. The full caption should be: “Figure #: caption [ref #]”. All visuals are preceded by one 12-point blank line. A 12-point blank line must follow the visual caption.

There must be a visual on the front page, inside the introduction. If a visual does not fit in one column, then it should be fitted to the full width of both columns across the bottom of a page.

All visuals must be specifically discussed in the paper, prior to being shown. An exception to this is the visual that is required on the first page. For example, Figure 1 shows the sales of Microsoft products by quarter [1].

All visuals must be referenced as shown [1].

IV. Formulas

Formulas are put on a separate line, are centered, and are preceded and followed by one blank line. Formulas are numbered in order of appearance in the paper using parenthesis and a tab to right justify the number. The formula must be specifically discussed in the paper text and referenced in the paper using the formula number (1). The discussion of the formula must precede the actual formula.

f(x) = 2x+3 (1)

Leave a 12-point blank line preceding and following the formula.

V. Program Code

Use a 10-point Courier font, left aligned. Refer to the code sample by a number in curly brackets {1}. Align the code sample number to the right of the beginning of the code sample. Include a reference if the code is from another source [2]. Leave a blank line before and after the program sample. Program samples do not count toward the word count of the paper. Do not use large code samples in the paper. The code sample must be specifically discussed in the paper. For example, code sample {1} shows the syntax for a loop. The reference number should follow the last line of the code sample as shown.

For (i=1; i<5; i++) {1}

{

do something;

}[2]

Following the code, skip a 12-point line before beginning new text.

VI. Quotes

When using an exact quote longer than one sentence, follow the format below.

“When quoting a source, skip one blank line prior to the quote. Indent each line 0.2 inches. Begin and end the quote with quotation marks. Put the entire quote in italics. Leave a blank line following the quote. Follow the quote with the ending quotation mark and the reference number.” [3]

Leave a blank line after the quote.

VII. Page Numbers

Pages are not numbered until placed in the Proceedings.

VIII. Future Perspective

All papers must have a section which discusses the future. The future section must contain specific referenced projections from experts. Opinions from students and non-experts are not acceptable.

IX. Conclusion

All papers must have a Conclusion section. The Conclusion should be a summary of key points from each section of the paper.

Bibliography

The Bibliography is in all 10 point, justified. Each reference is separated by a 10-point blank line. Each team member must have a minimum of two entries in the Bibliography, of which one of the references must be from a journal. Internet references must be from credible sources only. References are always referred to by their number [3]. Every reference in the Bibliography must be discussed in the text. Each entry ends with a period. All references are contained in the Bibliography. There should not be a section titled References. Do not use Footnotes or Endnotes. Use square brackets to number the references in order of appearance in the paper [1].

Always give credit to the source of information obtained elsewhere. The Bibliography, Biographies and Abstract headings are not numbered.

Biographies

First name Last name is in 10-point bold, with the remainder of each biography in regular 10 point. Leave a 10-point blank line before beginning a new name. The authors choose the order of the names for both the title page and the biography. Any method is acceptable. Sometimes the names are in order of who did the most work, down to who did the least work. Random order is used at times. Sometimes the names are alphabetized. However, if alphabetizing, use reverse order so that someone with a last name like Ziegler could be first for once.

New Name here. If photos are used, follow a format similar to the sample paper provided.
